I don’t know if this is the cavalry coming over the hill but it is at least a ray of hope. Merrick Garland issued this statement Monday.
Now while this is encouraging, Garland is already taking a lot of heat for it.
If you’re wondering where ground zero is in the culture war, look no farther. It’s in Texas. It’s going to stay in Texas until this situation gets dealt with to some equitable degree. This statement by Garland is a beginning, but much more substantive action is being demanded.
This is the 6th. It took effect the 1st. That’s less than a week – and Garland has other stuff he has to deal with that’s at least as important.
The new anti-abortion crap in TexASSistan has made me more sure than ever that I would NEVER EVER go there! The highly problematic policies that have led to the problems with the electrical grid there are not helping draw people there either! Reproductive health issues should be between a woman and her physician! Period!!
Yeah, protect women. Now where are you on trump. Still kissing the ring I think. Trump needs to be brought to account. He made a mockery of the judicial system while president. He’s no longer covered. He needs to be investigated. Maybe he didn’t break any laws. (My ass!) Is the pope catholic. Plain and simple. Loser walking down the street can get prosecuted. Loser has the top job in the country and we are supposed to heal. What kind of shit is that.
Problem is our culture rewards OBEDIENCE, not creativity, etc. U don’t get to be a lawyer, judge, etc., without supporting & going along with the rules. When we get into issues that require coloring outside the lines, our foot soliders of culture reach for the coloring book. We need warriors that understand, as Washington did, that the occasion merits the response. Fascists tried kicking down the doors of congress to keep putin’s illegitimate puppet in power. In fact, it was the MOST egregious act of treason ever committed by a sitting president. Yet, he’s not in custody. The law remains a tool of oppression by the rich until PROVEN otherwise. Fact.
