There comes a time when something needs to be said, but who is to do so? It depends on the election and who it’s about. And then there’s who will say it first? Senator Ossoff made a comment that has generated a lot of interest and asked that question at a rally last weekend. With gratitude for Raw Story:
The Georgia Democrat blasted the 80-year-old president’s handling of the war in Iran, and he made brief mention of Trump’s executive assistant Natalie Harp, who follows the president around with a portable printer so he doesn’t strain his eyes looking at screens and has reportedly raised concerns from the Secret Service for her admiring notes to him.
This wouldn’t have gotten such a roar reaction from the crowd if people hadn’t been wondering about Trump and Harp. They are seen together, but she has stayed out of the news with one exception until Senator Ossoff’s comment. We don’t know much about her. Now Trump does have 80-year-old eyes, so looking at a tablet could be challenging after a short period of time. And a portable printer is no more unusual than anything else Trump might want, although he couldn’t watch anything that has been printed.
There have been multiple comments made about Harp, everything from rude to questioning. The answer depends on who you ask. The best response might be You’ll think what you think, so “no comment”. Any other answer could lead to difficulties, such as losing one’s job if you’re talking to a reporter. She is probably protected from reporters since she is right next to Trump the majority of the time, so she won’t have to answer questions. There are always rumors.
“Ossoff winking at the rumor that Natalie Harp is more than just Trump’s staffer,” commented podcaster Tommy Vietor. “The question now is whether this will kick up a round of actual reporting by news outlets.” //// “‘Natalie’ is trending. Trump will be furious,” offered Zeteo’s Mehdi Hasan. “@ossoff won’t be the last Democrat to mention her by name, but I think he’s the first. (A reminder that she was on the catering truck with Trump while he left Rubio behind on the allegedly under-threat plane.)”
The truth about her is probably somewhere in the middle. She is his executive assistant, which generally means she listens to no one else but Trump (except the Secret Service). There have been good and bad stories of being an executive assistant just in general. Until she tells us or Trump tells us something, it’s anyone’s guess. Here we are.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
