I don’t want to nag. I only put up another piece today because the traffic is good and I’m hopeful that maybe somebody who hasn’t seen the fundraiser will decide to donate.
Long story short: We are in the midst of an ad recession. This began in December of 2022. It’s been plaguing us all year. Then Elon Musk has poured gasoline on his $44 Billion investment, which used to be Twitter and now is a zombie thing called X.
So Twitter is dead and the remnants of it are represented by an X and darkness. Literal and figurative darkness. The ongoing demise of Twitter has cost us an incredible amount of traffic, starting with 15%, then 20% and this past month 50%.
Do the math: you have less traffic and you’re paid less for the traffic you do have, that equals a lot less money.
We don’t need much from you. We just need something. I’ve put all the contributions in a 3.25% interest bearing brokerage account. I’m just stockpiling overhead costs, so that the writers can get paid from what money we do bring in from ad revenue and patrons.
