There is a shift in the White House. The plans are not working. People are screaming, and they’re right. The public is pissed off and showing it, even some of MAGA (but not enough). Trump is flailing and taking everyone down with him. Their usual schtick did not work. Too many witnesses to get to and shut up. Too many witnesses. And we know better. With thanks to Ex-GOP strategist Rick Wilson via Raw Story:

“There’s an odor in the West Wing,” and it’s fear as Donald Trump’s favorite tactic appears to have failed when it comes to immigration enforcement officers killing American civilians, according to a former GOP insider. Ex-GOP strategist Rick Wilson, who once said he might depose Trump in a lawsuit and force the president to explain his ties to the deceased child sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein, ahead of the weekend wrote a piece about the “fear” he is smelling. “There’s an odor in the West Wing. No, not Trump’s notorious eau de Depends, but something sharper: metallic, sour, unmistakable. Fear,” he wrote. “The smell of a frightened crew on a ship taking on water, while the officers on the bridge quietly eye each other’s life jackets.”

Good. Let’s hope it continues and spreads, so everyone goes down, even those who haven’t been in the news lately. All of them need to go down in flames. That includes Petey Boy Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard (who has been *extremely* quiet). They have figured out they don’t have the power they thought they had and they’re half a step from panic (if they aren’t already). Too many mistakes.

The reason is that their go-to plan failed when it comes to Alex Pretti and Renee Good, according to Wilson. “And when Orange Cthulhu panics, the MAGA rats inside the White House bucket start turning on one another, scratching, biting, desperate to prove loyalty, clawing for the rim no matter the cost to truth or dignity,” the analyst wrote. “For years, the MAGA apparatus has run on a simple, brutal loop: do something horrific, lie about it, scream ‘fake news’ at anyone who notices, and barrel ahead. It worked with chilling consistency. Until Minneapolis. Until the public executions of Renee Good and Alex Pretti jammed the machinery.”

And we are glad it did. Executions are correct because there was *literally* no reason, no need, no cause for either one of them to die. So now we have families in mourning and witnesses traumatized because of what they saw. That means *nothing* to ICE and CBP. They’ll just keep on doing what they do, and we have to worry about someone else getting killed by these moronic thugs. And again, let us also think about the rest of the country that has to deal with these bullies, too. Just because they aren’t currently in the news doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

“Stephen Miller and his dead-eyed acolytes reached reflexively for the old script. Within hours, Pretti was labeled an ‘assassin.’ A threat. A monster. But the video was too clear. The facts are too stubborn. And the victim, fatally for the propaganda machine, was too achingly normal. Midwestern normal. Human. Real. Furious at watching his city being turned into an armed camp,” he wrote.

“The backlash didn’t stay confined to activists or cable panels. It radiated outward into Senate offices, governors’ mansions, and even pro-Trump corporate boardrooms. When Target’s CEO is privately calling your people and asking what the hell is happening, you don’t have a messaging problem. You have a crisis. Wilson went on to say the situation has “created martyrs Trump couldn’t smear away,” leading to a “knife fight” between Kristi Noem and Stephen Miller.

Gotta say it. Gee, ya THINK??!! The accusations are flying fast and furious, and are probably even worse off-camera. ICE screwed up. They are being ‘folded, spindled, and mutilated’ for what they did. A cover-up simply isn’t possible. They executed two people. It was seen and recorded. Multiples. Trump’s cabinet has screwed up big time, and there’s no way to fix it that I can think of, and I hope it stays that way. If you do, please let me know. Another NO KINGS is now in the works for March 28. This ICE/CBP abuse has to STOP.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. I’m so proud of my Twin Cities home here in frigid Minnesota! We kicked ICE’s collective ass! They aren’t gone yet, but make no mistake: they WILL be soon. And a civil rights violation case has been opened on Alex Pretty’s death. That’s what sent George Floyd’s murderer Derek Chauven to prison, was violating George Floyd’s civil rights. Can’t wait for the No Kings rally on March 28! Minneapolis might just keep the protests going all the way to March 28!

    • Meg, you have every right to be ultra proud of your fellow Minnesotans. They’re an inspiration to the entire country. So is your state leadership. When all the supposed guardrails protecting citizens fail, because the elected people supposedly manning them have failed to honor their oaths, then those citizens must protect themselves. Tragically, it took 2 blatant daylight murders by Trump’s thugs to make the ugly reality so stark and visible that people of conscience could no longer tolerate it. Renee Good and Alex Pretti will haunt the appalling Trump regime for as long as it lasts, and will be in our hearts and minds forever. So will the courageous, righteous people of Minnesota.

    Um, Gabbard hasn’t been THAT quiet. She just got caught “assisting” in Drumpf’s raid on the Fulton County election offices. And THAT has been raising serious questions since her office has ZERO business getting involved–on any level–with US elections and election processes *without* evidence of FOREIGN involvement. And it was also noted that Drumpf and his people actually reduced–if not outright shut down–agencies that dealt specifically with foreign activities in US elections which means Gabbard’s involvement is even MORE suspect (a few people who know the law are even suggesting her involvement may be *criminal* and worthy of prosecution). The DOJ is saying she was just “overseeing” the operation and didn’t do anything but, still, people who know about election law are saying even *that* is outside her jurisdiction as the Director of National Intelligence.

    • We need to change the words in some acronyms for agencies. DHS becomes DHT = Dept. of Homeland Terrorism
      ICE = Insecure Coward Executioners
      DNI = Director of Nazi Intimidation
