This is getting to be a repetitive pattern. A right-wing pundit nut job gets a wild hair going for somebody and targets the person. The person fights back, tells the pundit to go away. Then the pundit calls out the right-wing troops and things start to get very ugly. This is not an isolated case, this is the formula.

Today California congressman Eric Swalwell and his wife are being targeted by Mother-Tucker Carlson.

Carlson is hot and heavy on this smear campaign. He’s called Swalwell a “coward.” Earlier this week, Carlson aired a segment titled, “Eric Swalwell Has a Problem With Money,” in which he said, “Most interestingly on the disclosure form, more than $20,000.00 of Eric Swalwell’s campaign expenditures went to the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Half Moon Bay, California. Now, weirdly or maybe not so weirdly, Eric Swalwell’s wife is an executive at that very hotel.” Carlson has also accused Swalwell of sleeping with a Chinese spy.

Mother-Tucker Carlson is a bully. You may recall him going after Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn recently. Same result, Dunn started getting death threats. This is from Charlie Sykes’ newsletter this morning.

“ICYMI, Tucker Carlson spent some of his air time the other night lashing out at a Capitol police officer named Harry Dunn, denouncing him as an “angry left-wing political activist.”

“Dunn’s sin? Via the Wapo:

Dunn has been a vocal advocate for police officers who protected the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. In May, he joined family members of Brian D. Sicknick in trying to persuade Republicans to investigate the riot. Sicknick, another Capitol Police officer who fought back the crowd, died the day after the attack.

Dunn has vividly described his own experience during the insurrection:

In a March interview with The Washington Post, Dunn said he was called the n-word more than a dozen times that day in January. Black police officers, he said, “were fighting a different fight” as a throng of Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol grounds and building — some violently attacking police officers standing in their way.

All of this put Officer Dunn in Carlson’s crosshairs:

“On Tuesday, Nancy Pelosi will call a Capitol Police Officer called Harry Dunn. Dunn will pretend to speak for the country’s law enforcement community. But it turns out Dunn has very little in common with your average cop,” Carlson said. “Dunn is an angry left-wing political activist whose social media feeds are full of praise, not coincidentally for Nancy Pelosi.”

“Dunn’s attorney, Mark Zaid, responded by noting that Dunn had served for 13 years in law enforcement and on 1/6 “ fought against an insurrectionist violent crowd — no doubt many of them Carlson’s supporters — to protect the lives of our elected officials, including Vice President Pence.

“Frankly, the last thing Carlson wants is the truth to emerge of what happened that day and why.” […]

“ICYMI: here’s Mark Zaid’s latest response to Carlson’s diatribe:

(I’ve unrolled the rest of the thread.)

In wake of that rant on @Foxnews, numerous vile/racist msgs have been sent to Ofc Dunn. Many msgs specifically cite Carlson. I’ve experienced this before. During 1st Trump impeachment when I rep’d IC #whistleblower, death threats didn’t arrive until right-wing pundits spoke out

There was clear correlation btwn statements from @TuckerCarlson@IngrahamAngle@seanhannity@marklevinshow & #Limbaugh. After (& during when) they spoke, death threats followed. One person was prosecuted & sentenced to year+ in jail.

If anything happens to Ofc #Dunn, Sgt #Gonell or other officers who testify on Tues (or their families), safe bet “direct” line of responsibility can be pointed to right-wing pundits like @TuckerCarlson . Words matter @FoxNews. Words matter.”

This is exactly correct. Words matter. Carlson is a demagogue and a bully and Fox News gives him a pulpit which he abuses on a regular basis.

And he’s far from alone. This is pro forma Wingnuttia behavior. Mike Lindell told his troops to come after me back in April when something I said or did finally was called to his attention. And death threats do come, even to small corners of the blogosphere like this one. How credible they may be, I don’t know, but I do take precautions. That said, if they really want to get you, they will.

Fox News is riding a thin line right now, where they want to keep ginning up the outrage so that they get the ratings and the revenue. But the fire they’re playing with is that innocent people can get hurt. A child with a flamethrower can do a lot of damage. I hope one of the Murdochs decides to do the adult thing and talk with Tucker.

And of course the sublime irony here is that if somebody does talk with Tucker and get him to dial down the rhetoric, that might save individuals in the news from being targeted, but a lot of people are still dropping like flies from COVID-19, because of Carlson’s disinformation campaign.

If there is such a thing as karma, I would not want to be anybody in the C-Suite at Fox.

  1. Eric Swalwell should sue this idiot. Who targets a wife? What would he do if someone did that to his? Frigging abysmal.

    • I really, and I mean REALLY want to say what I’m thinking right now. But I can’t because ursula would have to kick me off this site forever. And she’d be justified in doing so – that’s how far into my jarhead grunt in attack back before I get killed mode I am right now.

Suffice it to say that should some conservative goober be monitoring this then hey asshole. Tell Tucker I said he’s he’s a vile piece of shit and as disgusting example of the human species as a spoiled little rich boy who was given more than 99.9 percent of people can imagine and STILL believes it’s unfair he wasn’t given more can be. He’s fungus growing on a fuckwad that dripped out of a cow after being bred – on to one of her “pies.”

And yes I’d say that to his punk-ass face if he comes to my neck of the woods and flat out tell him that despite my being older and disabled he’s too much of a pussy (sorry ursula but sometimes you have to talk to people in language that will get through to them and that would get through and hurt Tucker’s wittle fee fees!) to take a swing at me. Because he KNOWS that if he did I’d have legal justification to defend myself. And just one punch in return from me would be worth ten from his PUNK ASS!

    • Your comments actually sent me to google to find out whether he has a wife, since he seems like such a textbook incel. But yes, he does – I guess with enough money anyone can, but I feel so sorry for her. Four children, too.

      • In these rarified Republican circles, wives are bought and sold through exchanges of property or money. You know it’s what royalty does. Oh, I forgot, we don’t have royalty in the U. S., just like we do not have social classes.

    • I have to agree, liar tuck needs to be sued. In fact, why haven’t criminal charges been brought against the f*ckwad? Let’s get brutally honest-if you, me, any of us on the streets so much as look at one of these a*sholes cross-eyed, we’d be in the hoosegow so f*cking fast we’d break speed records. Why aren’t these f*ckes being treated the same?

One other thought: is it my imagination or are all trust fund babies P.O.S. beings? I cannot remember a time when a trust fund baby was not a P.O.S.

      • I knew one really rich person in college. She was a,wonderful woman who was ashamed of bag I g 7 pairs,of shoes while her roommate had sneakers and dress flats. Her Dad had made and lost several.fortunex. Big house in Westchester.Brand new sports car. When a plan to.move off campus in my my junior year fell through,I ended up without a place to.live, and she gave me a couch to sleep ontill.I got a dorm room. She was down to earth,,kind, sweet and funny.
Money doesn’t make you a spoiled brat. Bad paren ting in the form of not setting limits, and enforcing them. I got out of college without debt because my parents, saved. With that said,my mother didn’t want a spoiled only k id. I wore uniforms during the week,so my clothes shopping was pretty limited, to The point that when I went off to college,,I didn’t have enough clothing to get through a,week because,I hadn’t needed them. We were hardly rich but compared to.many people I had it easy–except I was expected to have a,summer job, if I wanted spending money. I learned not to take money for granted. Tucker could have been taught the same lessons. His parents should be ashamed of their failure.

  2. Isn’t it unjust, in moments like this, that the Left doesn’t have the same kind of goon squads as the Right? I suspect *ucker has lots of protection 24/7 but I truly wish some vigilante would beat the shit out of him, just to wipe his smirk away.

    • It’s more to the point that the folks on the Left (at blogs and “pro” websites) hold their users accountable and absolutely will not allow any sort of threatening language, directed at the right-wing folks (who REALLY deserve the language). On the Right, however, the folks at the blogs and the “pro” websites will hem and haw that they don’t really condone the language but they feel “free speech” is far more important; of course, let a “dissenting visitor” use demeaning or derogatory language about the blogger or the site’s host/s or, heaven forbid, some “god” of the Far Right, and all that lofty talk about free speech suddenly vanishes into the ether–and let one of those “dissenting visitors” make a joke about hurting someone that way (in the same “joking” manner that the right-winger would make about Biden or Pelosi or any other politician who’s not a site “favorite”), they will be banned and threatened with being reported to the authorities (possibly even being reported to the authorities).
But really, this has been going on since the 1970s at least. Back then, it was Blacks and Jews being targeted by groups like the Aryan Nations and the “Christian Identity” church (or, more accurately, “church”). The leaders/”ministers” would get their followers all riled up and worked up into a frenzy and “suggesting” that “someone should deal with these people” (people wasn’t always the word used) and, inevitably, one of the followers would carry out their “mission” and kill or seriously injure a person who’d been targeted in one of the “sermons.” The victims and their families tried to get these leaders tried for their inflammatory words but courts routinely refused to do so, instead trying the perpetrators for their actual actions. The perps would never acknowledge they’d been motivated or compelled to do what they did (which is how the leaders avoided being tried) and would go to jail, happy in their new-found roles as “martyrs to the cause.” And, of course, the leaders would joyfully use that “martyrdom” in their next round of “sermons” to create more martyrs while remaining free to “preach” their hate. Nowadays, the Aryan Nations/Christian Identity folks have morphed into the Fox News talking heads (and their even more vile counterparts at Newsmax and OANN) and spreading the hate to political opponents.

      • Thanks for the explanation as to why suing hasn’t worked, because that would stop them in their tracks. If Dominion can sue the pants off people who are decimating their reputation, why can’t faux and Carlson be sued for billions?

Faux is a blight on our country. Their explosive and well deserved demise can’t happen soon enough for this reader.

        • Lawsuits do work depending upon the evidence. If it can be shown intent behind the words was to deliberately cause harm and that harm (monetary, emotional, physical) can be proven, the courts will not automatically dismiss. Case in point is Montana Nazi Andrew Anglin who organized a campaign of on-line intimidation including death threats against a Jewish person. Judgment against Anglin was $14 million, although he is now a fugitive in hiding refusing to pay and continuing to violate the terms of the Judgment (the death threats have yet to cease). https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/founder-neo-nazi-site-daily-stormer-should-pay-14-million-n1030211

      • We Jews are used to being attacked by x-tians. Historically it hasn’t been just C.I. movements or those types. We’ve pretty much been a target to many mainstream denominations as well. These as*holes are just the latest of a long line. I suppose, more importantly, if it gets bad for us Jews, trust me, it’ll get bad for a lot more people. When the nazis came to power it was no picnic for any group save the white males. The white, non jewish, males.

  3. The RWNJs don’t care about hurting people who aren’t involved. They just like hurting people. As for that “sleeping with the enemy” cr*p: when Swalwell learned she was a foreign agent, he dropped her and told the FBI everything he knew, unlike the ones playing with Butina and other foreign agents.

    • It’s all about projection. They raise holy hell about the things they’re doing that are wrong, against the law, etc. hoping to deflect attention. I’ve yet to see a single one of the RWNJ’s able to withstand ANY scrutiny.

  4. Tucker goes after a man’s wife because he’s a punk. I won’t say what I’m thinking about Tucker, I’ll just say I can’t wait for the wrath of God come down on this piece of crap. just let God handle it. When it’s all over, he would have begged for man’s wrath.

  5. HERE FROM #EricGarland yesterday .. sort of in code .. but a lawyer will understand.. ex parte TRO time

mention Rupert Murdoch’s gross and unprofessional HUMINT operatives

(there are witnesses who will back you up.) ?

  6. That’s the thing about old Cucksucker Carlson, his brains and his balls are the same size, tiny, and his school was so exclusive that no one gave him the ass-kicking he deserves. It’s not too late.

  7. Yes, Swallwell should sue Carlson, but also his wife should file a criminal complaint against him What Carlson has done constituted reckless endangerment and criminal assault against a private citizen. Carlson needs a serious come to Jesus meeting with a judge.
