It was always inevitable that, despite the adrenaline rush accompanied by the outrage over the handling of the Epstein files, there would come a point in time when it just all fell down over the sadness of the horrific nature of child rape. (These are not “pedos” – pedophilia is exploiting pre-pubescent children, post-pubescent is “child rape” or ephebophilia, if one wants to get clinical, it is critical to keep the distinction because they are wholly separate outrages). It is child rape, and eventually we were going to get around to the sadness and despair for the victims, which has arrived, at least for this girldad (17 years old). The agents who reviewed the files were subjected to graphic material for which they were unprepared. It is now all about the girls – now women – and getting the names of those who raped them.

It is not political in any sense, no matter how much influence Mike Johnson might have over recessing Congress. The files are an e-crime scene requiring thorough investigation into rapists, nothing less.

We now have information from Allison Gill, aka “Mueller She Wrote,” a genius political analyst and now source for information on the files from the thousands (literally) who had access to these almost unguarded materials. Gill now writes about the process for flagging Trump:

Two sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the existence of training videos instructing personnel on the process of tagging mentions of Trump, and that the videos were actually embedded in a PowerPoint deck (or decks) that lived on the shared drive. Several others confirmed the existence of the excel spreadsheet containing the document number and page number in the Epstein files where Donald Trump’s name appears.

If anything more needs to be said, I wouldn’t know how to say it. It is the very definition of “corruption” on several levels to have an active criminal investigation in which the top boss – the president- is flagged out. There could only be one reason. To give one an idea as to how aberrant this is, FBI Director Comey (Who is 6’10) turned down an invitation to even play basketball with Obama and staff at the White House due to the conflict of interest. Trump manages his own investigation. Gill goes on:

And not only that, but none of the individual documents, known as “serials”, were labeled in a way that would warn those with access about their contents. That meant that serials including illicit photos and videos, graphic testimony, and even handwritten notes could be viewed by anyone with access. And since access wasn’t limited across the components at multiple agencies, many personnel were subjected to traumatic material without warning.

How many women investigators have been date raped (“Raped”) in their lives and then having to review these documents in which children had even less power in the context? How devastating might that be? I have loved five women in my life (Real love) and three experienced date rape… What would this investigation do?

Were that not bad enough, we now know that the files contain graphic content which would elicit extreme empathy for the victims in each video. Go to your local high school and watch the JV Cheer Squad. These are kids, goofballs, God bless them – and then some agents had to see “graphic material” concerning a rape of these children.

It all goes back to the victims. This case is not about “flagging” files to protect the president; that’s already established. If there was nothing to see, the files would’ve been released. Yes, it is about holding the powerful accountable, but it’s also needed action to process for the victims – yes, society cared about you enough to maybe take down a president, perhaps even a former president. We can’t yet know, and that’s the problem.

Fortunately, there are now many witnesses, appropo because the process was so rushed as to ensure that many many people know what’s in the files. Gill powerfully writes:

Personally, as an SA survivor, I can’t fathom going in blind and being exposed to traumatic images of victims without warning – let alone knowing that the information about the survivors was available to large swaths of analysts with no real security protocols in place. “Opsec-wise, I think it was wild that just anyone could open the photos of victims,” one person said.

Yeah, God help us all.

So now what? There are enough witnesses to bring this thing crashing down. As wonderful as Gill is, only The New York Times, Washington Post, or the Wall Street Journal really have the resources to do a giant exposé. It is coming, though. Gill reached out to witnesses and found several; the Times will find fifty… And some might still have material.

The problem will be how to publish the horror of it all – including naming the assailants, while also protecting the anonymity of the victims, some of whom may come out by themselves openly. That’s a personal decision that I can’t comment on other than to say it’s possible, indeed – probable, to happen.

As to time frames and graphic material? I think it is going to be a really difficult late summer and early fall for Donald Trump and many others. Sex trafficking and rape are serious stuff and too serious to keep secret much longer. It is the right thing to do; one just prays that it helps victims to get closure.

It was always about the kids – God bless them.

    • Out of concern for the victims, I totally agree, but I think it’s critical to use concrete distinctions over the lazy “Pedos” thing. It is called – as you note, “Rape” and especially in this context of child trafficking.

  1. What’s becoming clear is that Bondi has conducted a massive effort in DOJ to screen all the material collected from raids on Epstein’s townhouse in NY, his private island, and possibly other residences in the US and abroad.

The question I have is, did Bondi also tell them to segregate material containing trump references and images, and to lock them away? Or, in the worst case, did she instruct DOJ investigators to destroy evidence? That would be a serious felony that would send people to the big house.

It looks like trump is going to die on Epstein hill. How many are willing to join him? That might be a very short list.

  2. It’s an uncomfortable, even ugly thing to have to confront but the fact is most of us guys have loved, or at least cared deeply about (whether via dating or family or professional relationships) someone who has been raped. As you say “date rape” is still rape. I’d like to think that most of us were well raised enough that when told “no”, “stop”, or “that’s enough” when fooling around (high school memories flooding back, as well as times in adulthood too) we stopped. Women unfortunately too often have learned that while almost all the time when they’ve made it clear an interlude was going past their comfort point and they wanted to stop it doesn’t always work that way.

I’ve only had one woman I loved (there haven’t been many, but I’ve had some relationships that came close) who’s told me she was raped. “Date-raped” is it were. But I know other women I’ve dated or cared about have been too. It’s simply too common a thing for that not to be the case. You also have those situations with powerful men where women decide in effect ‘well, he’s not ugly at least’ and go ahead and choose to have sex rather than risk something becoming violent. Think Trump’s encounter with Stormy Daniels. She didn’t really want to have sex with him but it seemed easier to give in to what she knew he wanted than to risk confrontation.

This whole thing is appalling. Whether outright rape or grooming vulnerable girls into doing things they wouldn’t have done without some careful manipulation, or with people they didn’t actually want to do them with IS something that should outrage any decent person. Trump is a master at projections – accusing others of things HE is guilty of. So it is with this. MAGAs will go into meltdown trying to rationalize TRUMPTY being guilty of what they are so sure Clinton is guilty of but almost certainly isn’t.

  3. So, 1000 or so FBI crimefighters, sworn to uphold the Constitution, are pressganged off proper duties in recent weeks to clean house on behalf of T. The House stands down of the House until September so things may (?) die down a little. So what is going to happen in the hiatus? Seems to me a good (literally and figuratively) proportion of those 1000 loyal to the Constitution officers may well be ferreted out by various news sources / media of all sorts and be willing to share a little of what went on. Like seeds planted in the recent weeks they will germinate over summer and blossom/bear fruit ripe for picking after Labor Day by a returned Congress, fresh for a new term having met/dodged constituents over August. If only the Big Bang Theory were not a name already taken for a comedy
