This is amazing but not the least bit surprising. I cannot tell you how many people I have spoken to over the years who have told me of a sister or brother they no longer speak to, due to the MAGAzonation of our culture. We are split in two, these days. We have not been in this position since the Civil War. In fact, let’s just call it like it is. This IS Civil War. It may not be a bloody exercise in the fields with muskets and cannonballs, all that, but it is a Civil War.

#FAFO is trending on Twitter. We’re only five days away from Election Night and the horror that was foisted upon us at that time. And pundits are analysizing it all, and we’ll keep you apprised of any new thoughts, or at least noteworthy ways of seeing what has just befallen us. But for right now I can tell you that it’s all over Twitter that marriages are breaking up. I’m not surprised. I do know of one “mixed” couple in Ohio, meaning he’s MAGA and she’s anti-MAGA, and maybe I should give them a call and see if they even pick up the phone when they see it’s me. I only have the MAGA husband’s number and he was married many years ago to a friend and former co-worker of mine. He was not MAGA then but clearly he had all the makings of one. Here’s the story of a guy in his shoes, where the wife has said “I’m done.”

Now, because we are truth-based here, I tried to independently verify that this was real and not parody (because we live in a world where the two are indistinguishable) and it’s a bit difficult to verify a tweet. But there are other threads on Twit/X right now on the same topic. So if this guy’s personal commentary is fiction, there are other people talking about the basic fact of this taking place. And it’s not just married couples. Breakups are happening in families and between friends.

And a grim reality is sinking in with other groups.

This is true. Here’s a link if you want to read the article. It is saddening and this is a foreshadowing of ominous times to come. If Trump wants to make good on his deportation threats, we may literally have crops rotting in the fields. The jobs that Trump has crowed that “migrants are taking” are simply not jobs that the people who voted for this, think that they are. MAGAs who may have felt threatened on an employment level were almost assuredly not applying to go out and pick strawberries.

We’re in this together and we need to stick together.

  3. This is exactly what happened with Brexit: we lost seasonal workers, including those who worked in hospitality, the National Health Service and those who picked crops and flowers. Brexit idiots never saw it coming. They voted to “stop the boats” (they’re still coming and in even greater numbers), and to deport the “brown people”. The government encouraged immigration from India to fill the gaps…so that worked well. 🤪 Not all Brexiters are racist, but all racists are Brexiters.

Selfish assholes who complained about grocery prices (I keep pointing out what prior generations endured in rationing and high prices to win WWII) will flip their lids when there aren’t enough migrants to work the fields, the meat processing plants and the cost of construction of homes and other housing will shoot up too. But food prices. FL got just a taste of it with an orange crop but just a taste. Of course Trump will make up a bunch of lies and human nature being what it is these goobers will try to rationalize their way out of any blame.

    • It’s like an endless list of jobs these people do for us. They work in fast food, landscaping and many other places. The R’s like to brag on the Texas “miracle” economy. Let’s see how well that works out with all this rounding up and deporting.

    • All the US has to do is to put more blacks and other POC in prison for something (or for nothing) and they’ll have slave they won’t have to pay at all. And maga folks will think that’s the way it should be. It never bothered most whites before, and won’t this time. So, what’s the problem?

  5. I truly hope that these wonderful hard working souls do not voluntarily leave. Make the tyrant round them up. Hell, I have enough room in my house to help out a family or two that I know…

    • contrariwise, it is better for them to leave voluntarily. if they are rounded up they will be brutalized, possibly killed, certainly kept in appalling detention camps, and most likely then rented out as slaves, the way prisoners often are now.

  6. When they vote against their people is not that sad it is sadistic and we will all pay. It’s that movie A Day Without Mexican. It can happen and where will the workers come from? The white society tried that and they didn’t last and were paid top-dollar. The people that work this tried less job have helped this country and paid more in taxes who will make this up?
