Come, let us reason together, as Lyndon Baines Johnson used to say. Speculation costs nothing and it can be fun. We have a situation with The Former Guy which is unique. The GOP got behind Trump in the ne plus ultra of Faustian bargains and anybody in the party with two brain cells working regrets that decision now, even if they didn’t in 2016.

They may keep that opinion to themselves, not wishing to rile up or alienate “the base” that section of the Republican electorate which terrifies both the rest of the GOP electorate and all elected Republican officials — not to mention the rest of America and sane people everywhere.

The GOP and Fox News go hand in glove. Whether Fox News got behind Trump first and then the GOP, or the reverse, is not known. But the two were aligned at one point. Then Fox News decided that it was time to cut bait and this has been going on for quite a while.

In recent weeks, Laura Ingraham went on record saying that America was “ready to turn the page” on Donald Trump and move on. She also was one of the people who suggested that a Special Master motion, in order to ascertain if the FBI departed Mar-a-Lago with any privileged materials belonging to Trump, was a good idea.

It was a disastrous idea. So disastrous, in fact, that people are wondering if Laura Ingraham was just talking off the top of her head, or if she hadn’t thought the Special Master issue through and understood the downside of it. Or, had she thought it through? Maybe she and Rupert Murdoch both thought it through and decided that it would be a subtle way to put the last few nails in Trump’s coffin and clear the way for their new golden boy, Ron DeSantis?

Here is a link to the August 22, 2022 Ingraham Angle where the Special Master issue is discussed. Note that Ingraham had made her “turn the page” comment on August 16. The execution of the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago was August 8. Interesting timeline, eh what?

Christina Bobb was so far out over her skis that now she needs an attorney of her own.

This is far from over. Stay tuned, same bat time, same bat channel. (Same bat blog, toot toot!)

      • Not exactly…
“In October, 20th Century Fox Television, a small-screen studio that Disney bought as part of the deal, became part of a new entity, Disney Television Studios.

Mr. Murdoch still owns the Fox broadcast network, Fox News and a chain of 28 local Fox television stations, among other media assets.”

  1. Let’s NOT give Fox Noise any kind of credit here. Garland’s people are smart enough to game out Trump’s likely reactions, so Ingraham was late to the party in all likelihood.

  2. Don’t know, but I would point out two more things:

    1. Laura Ingraham has a law degree from the University of Virginia.

    2. On August 18, at an earlier stage of the story, Ingraham had Trump’s lawyer Christina Bobb on her show and criticized her quite harshly for the way she was handling the case. Ingraham definitely does think Bobb is an idiot, and she is not wrong. Although I don’t think any lawyer can do much for Trump at this point, the FBI got him dead to rights.

  3. QUESTION
Why doesn’t the article say what Trump did that was supposedly so
    “dangerous” to himself?
Unless you mean that any special “master” the DOJ gets will be a
commie saboteur. [WHICH WOULD BE THE CASE.]

  4. I guess my comment/question did not pas your muster.
[ie: I do not see it posted]

(Moderator’s Note: My apologies Sam. Whether I agree with your comments or not the fact is I don’t see anything such as direct threats, dangerous disinformation etc. that would warrant being put into the moderation queue. Alas, the mysteries of algorithms of those who own the hosting servers result in mysterious actions. For example there are regular, long-time contributors – via comments – who “fit in” with the regular crowd/view of this site who always have their comments thrown into moderation. It’s frustrating for me and I’m sure for them as well. Regardless I in fact DO try to check if not hourly then every couple of hours to clear comments so they can be viewed. Alas, sometimes shit happens and life intervenes and several or more hours can go by as was the case with you. For that I’m sorry. Whether your comments are complimentary or critical, if within boundaries – and as I’ve noted what you had to say easily was – they will be approved for view in a relatively timely manner most of the time, and might even wind up through whatever magic the person/persons who wrote the screening algorithm crafted start to appear with no delay at all. It’s been known to happen, but I make no promises on that. I haven’t taken any actual computer program coding courses or done anything that involves writing/modifying code in well over three decades and that shit has long since gotten way out of my wheelhouse.)
