Y’all, this just keeps getting worse and worse, and why am I surprised? (Hello Ice Barbie) I should be used to this administration by now, and I’m not. DHS is turning into so much garbage that apparently they need help because they “don’t have enough people”. Oh, just shut up. They’re terrorizing illegals quite enough, thank you. Lots of quotes for you today. From CNN:

The Department of Homeland Security has requested 20,000 National Guard members to help with immigration enforcement across the US, a department spokesperson told CNN on Friday.

“The Department of Homeland Security will use every tool and resource available to get criminal illegal aliens, including gang members, murderers, pedophiles, and other violent criminals out of our country. The safety of American citizens comes first,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

The request, which is under review by the Pentagon, is part of a renewed push by the Trump administration to ramp up arrests of undocumented migrants and fulfill President Donald Trump’s mass-deportation campaign promise, sources told CNN this week.

The effort will include tapping Border Patrol agents to fan out nationwide and comes as the Justice Department has begun intensifying its crackdown on immigration-related crime in cities across the country.

First of all, “gang members, pedophiles, and other violent criminals out of our country” is a very, very small quantity.  Most of the people shoved in planes taken away and put into CECOT had no criminal records AT ALL. From The New York Times awhile back:

But a Times investigation found little evidence of any criminal background — or any association with the gang — for most of the men. In fact, the prosecutors, law enforcement officials, court documents and media reports that The Times uncovered or spoke to in multiple countries suggested that only a few of the detainees might have had any connection to Tren de Aragua.

Some of the prisoners do appear to have committed grave crimes. At least 32 of the men sent to El Salvador have faced serious criminal accusations or convictions in the United States or abroad, including a man accused of participating in an assault in Chicago, another convicted of trying to smuggle arms out of the United States and others accused of theft, strangulation, domestic battery or harboring undocumented immigrants.

One has a homicide conviction in Venezuela, according to court documents. Another man was accused in Chile of kidnapping, drugging and raping a woman during a four-day rage.

32 had offenses. Out of 200 some odd. Some had minor offenses, such as traffic stops. But most of them had NONE. Zero criminal record beyond being in the US illegally, which would just be a citation. And now DHS says they don’t have enough people to make arrests? I think it’s only because they want to arrest ALL immigrants, not just the ones who have committed crimes. Twenty THOUSAND members of the National Guard. They aren’t here to do such a thing! Seriously! More from CNN:

The request, which is under review by the Pentagon, is part of a renewed push by the Trump administration to ramp up arrests of undocumented migrants and fulfill President Donald Trump’s mass-deportation campaign promise, sources told CNN this week.

But interior arrests often require significant manpower and resources — more than are needed when detaining migrants as they cross the border, which is why the administration is now trying to recruit additional personnel, including thousands of extra Guardsmen, for the task.

Under the plan, states would deputize their National Guard under appropriate authorities, similarly to what Texas Governor Greg Abbott did in 2021 when he began deploying thousands of state troopers and Texas National Guard members to the border to help with immigration enforcement.

Last month, the Pentagon and DHS decided against recommending that Trump invoke the Insurrection Act for now, CNN reported at the time. The agencies told Trump that border crossings were low and that they did not need more authorities at that point to help control the flow of migrants, officials said.

So, now the states have to be in on this. Wonderful. I know we have some, like Texas, who will gladly help out. I’m betting blue states will fight back. This country continues to degenerate. Not only are we losing visitors, losing that money is also hurting many states. too. And And now I’m willing to bet that people who would come over here for schooling and such are now seriously thinking about NOT coming. Remember students getting arrested for nonsense? So, we lose that money also. Our no-account leader wants to be seen as “The Great And Powerful tRump” to the rest of the world. With a few exceptions (hello Middle East trip and Syria), they see that the wanna be emperor has no clothes. Thanks for sticking with me!

Zoomers, we are always in need of donations. It’s been an especially rough month, and my own health has not been great these past few weeks, which just adds to the frustration. Anything you can spare will be immensely appreciated. And thank you to all who have donated generously already. Ursula

  1. Seems like they’re following a script leading up to the invocation of the Insurrection Act and suspension of civil liberties, including elections. God help the country if he throws the switch next year before the mid-terms. This is a horror movie that isn’t a movie.

    • Horror movie that isn’t a movie. Wish I had said it that well! I know he’s been told the Insurrection Act is a Very Bad Idea. Let’s hope it sticks.
