If Ron DeSantis is 5’11” then I’m Verushka, and she’s 6’4″. I get it that our culture is biased against short men. Believe me, I get that. I’ve discussed the issue with both short and tall men over the years. I’ve also discussed height with tall women, who have the reverse prejudice. One of my roommates in college was 6’0″ and her parents contemplated surgery at one point because they feared that she was “unmarriageable” and oh, my can’t have that. Turns out she was the first in our crowd to get married a year out of college to a guy that was three inches shorter. They had a lovely daughter, also tall.
DeSantis has been confronted with the fact that he’s been walking around in lifts. He categorically denies it and told an interviewer today that he was 5’11.” In your dreams, Ron, like in your dreams you live in a big white house on Pennsylvania Avenue.

It’s intriguing that he feels he has to lie in the first place. I honestly don’t think that any voter in Florida or anywhere is thinking, “You know, that guy has foreign policy wired, he’s got the best ideas about the economy I’ve ever heard, and the innovations he suggests for education, solving the reproductive rights dilemma, job creation, everything is so spot on. But if he’s only 5’6″ I can’t vote for him.”
Does anybody know of any human being who thinks that way? Because I do not.
I think Ron made a mistake right now, because now it’s going to be a situation of the cover up being worse than the lie. If he’d just wiggled out of it — as he tried to when he said the boots were off the rack — it would have been better than adding an extra five inches to his height.
My guess is that he’s 5’5″ or 5’6. And so what? The writer Harlan Ellison was 5’5″ and he had a great line. He said, “We’re all 5’5″ in bed.” And Ellison had no problem bedding anybody he wanted to. He was renowned for that. So being 5’5″ didn’t prevent him from having a successful writing career and a sex life which was apparently the envy of all. He claimed to have slept with 714 women in his life. And he was married five times.
But it is a Republican thing. Melania claims to be 5’11”, just go ahead and Google it. Now if that was true and she wears five inch stilettos all the time, then she would be 6’4″ and taller than Trump, right? Because he claims to be 6’3″.
Go take a look at Melania standing next to the Obamas, who don’t lie about their height. Melania is shorter than Michelle Obama and Michelle is legitimately 5’11.” She probably wears no more than a one and a half inch pump when she dresses up. Barack Obama is 6’2″ — which would make him a trifle shorter than Trump and look at their pictures together.
My guess is that Melania is 5’6″ and with the five inch stilettos she’s 5’11.” But not without them. And truth be told, her lack of height was undoubtedly a factor in her modeling career. High fashion models are tall.
And frankly, I doubt that Barron is 6’8″. I think that’s a lie to explain why he towers over his parents. I would believe he is 6’4″ or even 6’5″. And at that height, he will tower over the rest of the Trumps who lie like rugs.
Back to Ron DeSantis, this will blow up in his face. He’s given his detractors reason to take a shot at him and take it they will. Let me state emphatically, I have zero issue with the man’s height. I have major issues with his character and his policies.

I used to be 5’8″. I may have shrunk a bit. my son when he was younger said he wanted to be 6’2″. I always told him. you don’t want to be that tall, try being comfortable in an air plane seat or in a regular bed or even finding shoes. there are advantages to being short like me.
my mom and grandma both urged me to grow two inches taller than them so I could reach top shelves. Nope. Five two it is, and when I was younger I just clambered on counters, now I use a stepstool.
I think my redeemer social function is that I don’t look like a serial killer. I am often asked at the grocery store to get that item from the top shelf or the item way back of the shelf.

TRUMP really has your number….ZERO. a real man would own his height…so WHAT if you’re not tall…lying about it makes him look weak and pathetic. I actually felt sorry for him.

Wearing lifts seems a weird solution. So who wears boots to a beach for the rest of their life? Never play basketball, ride a bike or run on a treadmill? They never consider the end game?
If he works out like he says he does, a reporter will catch him at the gym. Not very good at this, is he?
Both melanoma and dicksantis neglected to add “in my heels” and “in my boots” to their claims about height. Besides, all you have to do is look at those jeans of his and see where the knee wrinkle is to know that NO ONE has calves that long. They look 10 inches longer than his thighs.
I’m 5’2″ and my husband was 6’2″. Some of my favorite male friends are under 5’8″. Good people come in all sizes.
