No, it’s not a headline for The Onion, it’s the machinations of the Department of Justice. They’ve decided that for the worst criminals it’s appropriate to have bullets flying while blindfolded. What brings on this sudden ghoulish decision? Ask Todd Blanche, he’s running the show. For now. Raw Story:
Reactions erupted online Friday after President Donald Trump‘s Department of Justice announced it would reintroduce execution by firing squad.
The death penalty method had been under moratorium since the Biden administration, but the announcement in a press release on Friday revealed the DOJ had decided to reverse the move in an aggressive pivot.
“The prior administration failed in its duty to protect the American people by refusing to pursue and carry out the ultimate punishment against the most dangerous criminals, including terrorists, child murderers, and cop killers,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. “Under President Trump’s leadership, the Department of Justice is once again enforcing the law and standing with victims.”
“So the government that can’t deliver mail reliably now gets to decide who dies and how?” Political commentator Joe Lowson wrote on X.
“Wealthy men in suits who have never seen up close or engaged in violence now seemingly obsessed by it,” television personality Damon Bennett wrote on X.
“Was anyone anywhere asking for this? The lack of focus on the real issues is frightening,” Peter Hopey, writer and former columnist for the Bleacher report, posted on X.
“Let’s see how this one plays out,” film critic April Wolfe wrote on Bluesky.
Meanwhile, Tim Burchett wants to bring back public hangings. What is it with all this violence? Taking America back to the Old West is making it great again?

Aother giant step backwards by the morons who don’t know the difference between progress or regress.
The irony is further enhanced by some in MAGA calling for the death penalty for rapists – when their own leader is one.
Perhaps they want to give him a choice?
From the block quote:

So, would anyone care to explain how a firing squad does anything REALLY different from lethal injection (the only legal method before this–and which was used against ALL thirteen of the previous inmates executed by the government during the last 6 months of Drumpf’s first term)?
And, considering the fact that Drumpf PARDONED thousands of criminals from the insurrection (including some who actually KILLED COPS) and many of those pardoned individuals would go on to be tried and convicted of some violent crimes, shouldn’t Drumpf be one of those who should face “the ultimate punishment” for HIS actions? I mean, Mary Surratt was executed for her “role” in the Lincoln assassination even though there was no proof she did anything other than allow Booth and his fellow conspirators to room at her house (that would be akin to holding the owner or manager of a hotel or, in more modern settings, a bed-and-breakfast or an AirBNB, accountable for the criminal actions of a paying guest or guests) so, Drumpf pardoned people who committed later crimes; that means HE should be held responsible for aiding those crimes.
As many people (especially black men) who die from bullets fired by police under sketchy circumstances, I think we already have firing squads. Typical of this holier-than-thou crowd to come up with this. Wait till they pivot to lynching. God save us from this bunch.
