Are there even going to be any GOP primary debates? Because there is one unifying theme that is coming from GOP strategists of the past and that is, that if Donald Trump actually gets on a stage with Ron DeSantis, Trump will wipe the floor with him.
What’s ironic about all this is that it is Trump who doesn’t want to debate, not DeSantis. Trump’s last public commentary on debating was that he was so many points ahead in the polls, why bother? I suppose there’s some argument to be made for that, but personally, I would love to hear DeSantis do a Mickey Mouse number on Trump, seeing as how effective it has been so far with the Disney people. Great comic relief, if nothing else.

All that we know for a fact about the 2024 election is that it will be the longest in our history. That much has already been established.
You know, Republicans may have many types of personalities, but they all have one thing in common. Smugness. Now us Democrats can be pretty darn smug, too, but I don’t think it is the same. We may get smug because the facts are on our side. Yes, I know just saying that is pretty smug, but Republicans have the ‘ Uh, hu, so what are you going to do about it smugness’, which is just scary.
Another thing the Republicans have is the Lemon Complex. They bought a car they thought was great, but turns out to be a lemon. Will they ever admit it? Hell no. Same with their Trump love. They will never quit backing him regardless of how many sins he has. Their attraction to DeSantis is that he is a racist bigot, etc. Well, they all are so why should they abandon Trump just for him? There is no point really. Trump is far more exciting.
You call the trump car a lemon but to his base, those problems are what makes him attractive to them. Now should people like McConnell, etc. support trump in 2024, yeah, that’d be a lemon candidate for them. I wonder if those types will support him in 2024.
