Because, you see, while Trump and his coterie have been crowing to beat the band about the Supreme Court immunity ruling and how all powerful that makes Trump, they are completely forgetting the obvious: the January 6 case will now go back to Judge Tanya Chutkan and she will then proceed to hear testimony from witnesses. And while the case itself cannot be tried before the November election, a lot of the testimony can and will be heard — in fact, needs to be heard so that the determination can be made what was an official act and what was a private act on the part of Trump. Yes, it is such a shame that this case cannot be tried before the first Tuesday in November. But it doesn’t have to be tried in order to provide a great public service. The key facts and the testimony of the key witnesses will refresh everybody’s recollection. Weeks of a daily public hearing, especially in the last sixty days before the election, should be something.
The blow of the SCOTUS decision today has been such that we’ve been overlooking quite a few good points here. It’s going to be exceptionally difficult, if not downright impossible, for Trump to prove that he didn’t unleash a mob on the Capitol. There is too much evidence to the contrary. And Trump said he would join that mob, which at that point was chanting “Hang Mike Pence!” and “Fuck Mike Pence.” He never did join them, but it’s on camera that he said that he would join them.
There was a gallows in front of the Capitol that had been erected days before. That image has since become iconic. Trump can’t wish that away, either. In fact, Trump can’t wish any of it away because the one thing that has made him is going to be the very same thing that will break him and that is television: this is all recorded and it has all been on television.
And what hasn’t been, the details that we really need to know, will be provided by people like Mike Pence. The terrific thing about Pence right now is that he’s already hated by MAGA and that won’t change. So he’s got nothing to lose, and everything to gain by coming down on the right side of history.
Who knows, Pence plays his cards right, when the New GOP finally stumbles out of the ashes, he’ll be some kind of an elder statesman in it. This could be. MAGA is in the process of self immolation. Trump is on his last legs.
The Supreme Court did exactly what it was expected that it would do. The Roberts court is already on the side of history that it has chosen. And now the rest of the judiciary needs to keep the entire judiciary from having two black eyes, which is the appearance it has today.
Keep an eye out for this story as it develops. This is a key story, if not the key story, going into the election.
With the SCOTUS ruling even if Trump did incite the riot and conspire with others in an attempted coup, as the sitting President he is immune from prosecution as he was exempt.

Judge Chutkan must determine which actions of his are not within the scope of the executive’s duties. Yes, the morons on the s.c. did expand that somewhat, but it doesn’t sound like it is unlimited. You’re correct Joseph but his cracker jack legal team, whichever z-listers he can find, will have to defend him from a prosecution quite willing and able to clearly explain his treason to a jury. Thus far he hasn’t had much in the way of legal teams. Were it not for this perverted gift of the cons on the s.c., who delight in pulling shit out of their asses, his ass would already be up shit creek without the proverbial paddle. Judge Chutkan just has to work harder. I’m sure she’s up to it and as pissed as she probably is, she’ll put together something that will nail his ass.
Every time the cons on the s.c. pull their moronic stunts, the country distrusts them more. I suspect there will come a day in the not to distant future when the country will rise up and demand the ouster of at least alito and thomas, and maybe beer bong, the vagina, and gorsuch. One problem with that: 60+ decisions have determined he is a lying p.o.s. on this “stealing the election” bull-shit. THAT could not in any reasonable way (I know, the cons on the s.c….) be construed as presidential duties. Those decisions are done and over and he lost AND the s.c. wouldn’t even take on any appeals on the matter so even THEY think his b.s. was indeed b.s. While I wouldn’t necessarily put it past them, I highly doubt they are going to reconsider what they decided not to review (don’t know if it was refused with prejudice or not). Were they to do so they might as well tattoo TRAITOR in big red letters on their ugly mugs because the entire country will know that is what they are.

Proof positive the cons on the s.c. need to be taken out by any and every means necessary.
