His legs are swelling. So, the actual condition is “chronic venous insufficiency”. I find it interesting that this should be news shortly after Jason’s column about his ankles. Here, have some medical-ese from the piece on CNN:

Trump, 79, underwent a “comprehensive examination, including diagnostic vascular studies” with the White House Medical Unit, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, reading from a note from the president’s physician, Capt. Sean Barbabella. Barbabella’s note stated that “bilateral lower extremity venous doppler ultrasounds were performed and revealed chronic venous insufficiency, ICD-9, a common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70. Reading Barbabella’s note, Leavitt said there was “no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease,” and that Trump’s lab testing was all “within normal limits.” Trump also underwent an echocardiogram, which found “no signs of heart failure, renal impairment, or systemic illness,” she said.

How’s that for you? Medical-ese for the diagnosis for the win! Good grief, why do they always say that part at the beginning? You have to slog through all the medical terms to get to what it actually is. Too bad everything else is okay. Nuts. Yes, that’s mean, but he deserves it. The rest of the tests showed he had no problems. That’s what they’re saying publicly.

Chronic venous insufficiency is a condition in which valves inside certain veins don’t work the way they should, which can allow some of the blood to pool or collect in the veins. About 150,000 people are diagnosed with it each year, and the risk goes up with age. Symptoms can include swelling in the lower legs or ankles, aching or cramping in the legs, varicose veins, and pain or skin changes. Treatment may involve medication or, in later stages, medical procedures. “It’s basically not alarming information, and it’s not surprising,” said Dr. Jeremy Faust, an assistant professor of emergency medicine at Harvard Medical School.

It’s normal for aging, and more so when someone is obese, as the Mango Mandarin has been for a long time. He probably doesn’t do any form of exercise, even if it’s just walking, which doesn’t help. Golfing is not exercise unless you walk from one hole to the next, and we all know he rides on a golf cart. Plus, then he’s mostly standing.

He might be happy to know he’s one of only 150,000 people who are diagnosed with this each year. After all, it shows he’s one of a limited number. That will give him an excuse to use to rally MAGA again.  He’s been losing MAGAts because of the whole Epstein scandal, which is starting to get wearying.

Leavitt later added that the president was experiencing “no discomfort.” She deferred to a forthcoming letter from Barbabella regarding treatment for the condition. The press secretary also addressed bruising that has appeared on the back of the president’s hand, which she attributed to his “frequent handshaking,” plus his use of aspirin. “This is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen,” Leavitt said, via Barbabella.

Frequent hand shaking, my ass. It’s nowhere near where a thumb would be, as we saw from a different column by Jason. I call bullsh!t on that one. I hope we get something concrete from the medical doctor that can’t be twisted around by KKKaroline or tRump. It would be a nice change.

Thanks for sticking with me!

We thank all of you who have donated. You’re keeping this blog on the internet, believe me. One of the battles we fight is the inconsistency of ad revenue because politics in this country is so polarized, and a lot of advertisers just seek to avoid the political. They’d rather advertise on food blogs and be safe, doughnuts before democracy. All we’re trying to do is stay in business because we believe the work is important. Thank you if you can assist. If we didn’t need it, we wouldn’t be asking. Ursula

  1. Yes the aspirin regimen would increase bleeding and bruising. I tend to think it’s probably like Denis commented in Jason’s piece. He most likely had IV’s inserted in the veins on the back of his hand. Just my guess, but I think it’s most likely.
