This may be the start of the endgame, not only for Trump, but for his entire criminal enterprise family. CNN originally broke the news, and MSNBC confirmed it, that New York State Attorney General Letitia James had sent a letter to the Trump organization that their civil investigation was no longer so, that they were now conducting a criminal investigation of the Trump organization, in cooperation with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
This is huge news, and terrible news for Trump, his criminal organization, and his idiot children, for two reasons. First, the NY AG’s office started out with a civil investigation, which means no jail time. Now, in the conduct of their investigation, they have found enough evidence to make them expand the investigation into criminal liability. Second, they have teamed up with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, which just happens to have Trump’s tax returns. And they’re sharing information.
This is like taking the 1980’s Chicago Bulls, and combining them with the 2000’s LA Lakers. These are two prolific prosecutorial organizations who are now combining their resources. The NY Ag has had access to information that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office would not have, and now NY state tax specialists can go to work on Trump’s tax returns, both personal and organizational.
This puts Alan Weisselberg, Trump’s CFO, directly in the crosshairs. There was already reporting leaked that the Manhattan DA’s office was not only pressing Weisselberg, but moving on to his children, and even grandchildren to put pressure on him. The NY Attorney General has access to threats that the Manhattan District Attorney could only dream of. And let’s not forget, in his testimony before congress, former Trump personal lawyer Michael Cohen turned over graphic evidence of Donald Trump Jr’s signature on a check repaying Cohen for his hush money payments to Stormy Daniels. Payments that evidence shows the Trump organization, under Alan Weisselberg’s signature, later listed as legal fees, a clear violation of New York state law.
This is going to be something to watch. And it’s a rolling train wreck for not only Trump, but his monkey spawn as well. because the Manhattan District Attorney’s office can use anything they pick up from the NY Ag’s office to strengthen their local case, and the NY AG Liticia James can use the tax info to to strengthen their state case against anybody they can snare up. In the middle is Alan Weisselberg, who will crack like a walnut? Don’t touch that dial.

The media seems to be misleading people about this. The Manhattan DA’s office announced some weeks ago that they’d reached out to the NYAG’s office for personnel and resources to help them with their criminal investigation of Trump.
Their investigation began in August 2018. It was recently expanded when they were finally granted access to Trump’s financial records. They had to really fight hard for access too. Even SCOTUS put roadblocks in their way. Instead of saying yes, you can have access, they sent the DA back to the lower courts to start the process all over again from scratch. Luckily it didn’t take a couple of years like it did the first time around.
The DA’s investigation of Trump actually started at SDNY but for reasons that were never provided to the public, SDNY just stopped investigating and let the case lapse. Cy Vance had to go to a judge to get him to declare the SDNY case officially closed so the Manhattan DA could pick it up.
It’s notable too that SDNY sided with Trump in opposing Manhattan’s move to take on their lapsed case. I hope sometime Merrick Garland can get around to investigating why SDNY suddenly switched from working for the people to working for Trump.
The whole thing took so long with the investigation suffering multiple delays because of the barrage of appeals from Trump at every stage, that the statute of limitations ran out on at least two of the charges. However, they’ve been able to add in new charges which I hope is bad news for Trump.
Apparently, the NY AG’s authority is mostly civil which is why James has never launched a criminal investigation into Trump. I know the media is saying she has but it’s actually Cy Vance’s case with some of NY AG’s people helping out. Since there’s an election coming up, James is obviously keen to take a share of the credit for the Manhattan DA’s criminal investigation. Vance is probably okay with it because he’s not running for re-election.
