I don’t want to let myself hope for a defeat of Lauren Boebert and find my hopes dashed but who knows? We live in a country where Donald Trump was elected president so anything is possible if politics is the topic. Boebert was riding high against her Democratic rival up until recently. She had a 19 out of 20 chance of winning. That’s no longer the case. The Cook Political Report has reanalysized the situation and Boebert’s race has moved from “Likely Republican” to “Leans Republican.” Hey, that’s a big deal. It would be so much better if it was toss up, or best of all, “Likely Democrat” but at least we have gotten this far. Let us be thankful for this improvement. What it shows is that she’s disilluioned voters in this race, like in her race two years ago.

The Republican and fervent supporter of former president Donald Trump won the Centennial State’s third congressional district in 2022 by a wafer thin 546 votes. Following that victory, Boebert made the switch to run in the neighboring 4th district, where she aims to fill the seat left empty by Republican representative Ken Buck, who retired this year.

The district is the most Republican in the state, according to a Cook Partisan Voting Index last year, which graded it R+13, compared with the 3rd District’s R+7 rating. The last time a Democrat won in the 4th district was Betsy Markey in 2008.

While polling aggregates from FiveThirtyEight and The Hill suggest that Boebert is favored to win and she enjoys the endorsement of Trump, it appears her fortunes have dipped in the days before voters go the polls, according to the Cook Political Report. […]

As of Saturday, there are 22 toss-up races across the country, according to the Cook Political Report. Ten of those seats are held by Democrats and 14 by Republicans.

Boebert no more belongs in Congress than a tortoise belongs in a tree. But she got there, as did Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn and other MAGAs, on the coattails of Donald Trump and his toxic party. I am hopeful that Coloradans have had enough of this woman.

I lived briefly in the congressional district that Boebert is running in, although I lived the rest of my first 26 years in the Denver-Boulder area. Boebert is not representative of decent Coloradans. I think that the people I knew in that district would rather vote for a Democrat than vote for a disgrace like Boebert. I could be wrong. Boebert is running in the safest Republican district in the state. That alone may be enough to take her over the top.

Nevertheless, let us take comfort where we can find it. She’s not a shoo in at this point and that was the case a month ago. So maybe the electorate will teach her a lesson on Tuesday. It is possible.

  1. Ursula I respectfully disagree. She got into congress because of the stupidity and lack of character of the American public. That’s a fact no matter how its spun. Maybe karma is coming home after the genocide of the Native Americans and taking the land, the kidnapping, rape, and enslavement of African Americans who still are in harms way, the unjustified wars killing innocents, and allowing the rich to buy our government, with nonstop lies and hypocrisy. Where the phuck did we get the idea we are a moral nation? We are not. That fact will haunt us to the grave, and, according to scripture, judgement is coming. Arrogance, ignorance, and greed is our downfall. Darkness on the edge of town. That’s why this mindless evil woman sits in power and will again.

Um, who wrote this? Last time I checked my math, 10 plus 14 equals 24. So are there actually 24 toss-up races or is the split different (eg, 8/14, 10/12, 11/11). It was bad enough when we had to worry about half-assed journalism but now we have “journalists” who can’t even seem to do basic math?
