For all of you who thought it a bit bizarre that Melania didn’t move into the White House until June of 2017, here is a theory that fits the facts and considering the “character” of the principals involved in this story, it is perfectly plausible. A new book, “The Art Of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump” drops June 16. It purports that the reason Melania delayed in coming to the White House after the election was because she was renegotiating the terms of her pre-nuptial agreement with Trump. And that she did so again last year in order to secure her services in helping Trump run for reelection. To paraphrase George Bernard Shaw, we’ve always known exactly what she is, now we know how much she costs — and costs us, too, I might add. The taxpayers dropped over a million bucks on extra security costs for Melania and Barron to be safe in Manhattan, while she dickered with Trump’s lawyers. Washington Post:
Melania’s original prenup had not been incredibly generous, Jordan reports. But she has been married to Trump longer than both his ex-wives and had bargaining power: Her perceived calming effect on him was so great that Trump’s pals and at least one of Trump’s adult children exhorted her to come to the White House as soon as possible.
She had him over the proverbial barrel. He had to cave, so that she would come to Washington and play First Lady. He had no choice. And here’s what I love. She is characterizing this episode as “taking care of Barron.” I’m actually starting to like Melania. She’s kind of a dumbed down Lady Macbeth. Fewer brains, but the instincts are the same.
And one adjustment to the prenup wasn’t enough.
Observers in the White House had noticed an uptick in her mood by mid-2018 that might account for her being so willing to fight for a second term. According to three people close to Trump, Jordan writes, Melania had finally renegotiated the prenup to her liking. She’d already been looking out for Barron’s future by making sure he had dual citizenship in Slovenia, which will position him to work in Europe for the Trump Organization when he comes of age.
Now, she’d made sure he wasn’t shut out of the family business. Jordan writes: “She wanted proof in writing that when it came to financial opportunities and inheritance, Barron would be treated as more of an equal to Trump’s oldest three children.”
She’s not wrong about the three older Trump kids being on board to screw a sibling. Just ask Tiffany. Isn’t it heartwarming that the Party of Family Values elected this particular standard bearer and his klan? I find it inspiring.

Wow this gives me a whole new view of her (Melania). I am not aware of what happened with Tiffany, except she’s obviously not in their inner circle. I understand she’s going to school to become a lawyer.
There was a story a few years ago about how Ivanka and Junior were working against Tiffany’s interests and for their own. So Melania would have cause to worry about them messing with Barron’s future. Tiffany graduated this year from law school.
I hope she makes her own life and steers clear of this bunch of bozos.
Originally he tried to say Tiffany wasn’t his. There was a thing about it at the time. My mom got on him early on as a loser. Not sure what tripped her but she hated him.
Tiffany was brought up by her mother in California, greatly limiting her contact with her father. That is why she is different from her sister and older brothers.
Yea Ok, but who says there’s going to be a family business when all of this is over?
Now that is the big issue, isn’t it? If Melania’s lawyers are smart, they considered that possibility.
Remember, they’ve all been looting the U.S. Treasury since Jan 2017
how much you think little Barron has stashed away in an offshore account???
The other suggestion I’ve seen is that dual citizenship allows both her and Barron to get out of Dodge when things go bad.
I won’t read the book ’cause I don’t care. Do you?
There’s a lot of other things I will read way before I would ever get to this book. But after it publishes and gets reviewed, there may be more entertaining anecdotes like this one.
This makes me dislike her even more.
It proves who she is, though, doesn’t it? And it certainly comes as no surprise.
Nope, no surprise here.
I don’t think renegotiating her prenup reflects badly on her. She probably learned a lot since the day she signed the first one.
Melania Trump (/məˈlɑːniə/; born Melanija Knavs; [mɛˈlaːnija ˈknaːu̯s], Germanized to Melania Knauss; April 26, 1970) is a Slovenian-American former model and businesswoman and the current first lady of the United States, as the wife of the 45th president of the United States Donald Trump.
Melanija Knavs was born in Novo Mesto, and grew up in Sevnica, in the Yugoslav republic of Slovenia. She worked as a fashion model through agencies in Milan and Paris, and moved to New York City in 1996. Her modeling career was associated with Irene Marie Models and Trump Model Management.
In 2001, Knavs became a permanent resident of the United States. She married Donald Trump in 2005 and obtained U.S. citizenship in 2006. She is the second first lady, after Louisa Adams, born outside the United States, the first one to be a naturalized citizen and the first whose native language is not English.
Melanija Knavs was born in Novo Mesto, Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia), on April 26, 1970. Her father, Viktor Knavs (born March 24, 1944), was from the nearby town of Radeče and managed car and motorcycle dealerships for a state-owned vehicle manufacturer. Her mother Amalija (née Ulčnik) (born July 9, 1945) came from the village of Raka and worked as a patternmaker at the children’s clothing manufacturer Jutranjka in Sevnica. As a child, Melania and other children of workers at the factory participated in fashion shows that featured children’s clothing. She has an older sister, Ines, who is an artist and her “longtime confidant”, and an older half-brother—whom she reportedly has never met—from her father’s previous relationship.
Knavs grew up in a modest apartment in a housing block in Sevnica, in the Lower Sava Valley. Her father was in the League of Communists of Slovenia, which espoused a policy of state atheism. As was common, however, he had his daughters secretly baptized as Catholics. When the Trumps met Pope Francis at the Vatican in 2017, Melania brought her rosary and asked the Pope to bless it.
When Knavs was a teenager, she moved with her family to a two-story house in Sevnica. As a high-school student, she lived in a high-rise apartment in Ljubljana. She attended the Secondary School of Design and Photography in Ljubljana and studied architecture and design at the University of Ljubljana for one year before she dropped out.
Knauss was featured in a sexually explicit photoshoot for the January 1996 issue of Max, a now-defunct French men’s magazine, with another female model. She also posed nude for the January 2000 edition of GQ magazine, appearing on the cover naked but for diamond jewelry, reclining on fur, aboard Trump’s custom-fitted Boeing 727. Asked about the photos in 2016, Donald Trump said: “Melania was one of the most successful models, and she did many photo shoots, including for covers and major magazines. [The Max photo] was a picture taken for a European magazine prior to my knowing Melania. In Europe, pictures like this are very fashionable and common.”
In 2010, Trump launched her own line of jewelry, Melania Timepieces, and Jewelry, for sale on QVC. She also marketed a Melania Skin Care Collection, sold in high-end department stores. According to a financial filing in 2016, her businesses brought in between $15,000 and $50,000 in royalties that year. In 2017, the two companies that manufactured her jewelry and skincare products under license said they had terminated their relationship with her. On inauguration day her companies and products were listed in her official White House biography, but they were quickly removed. A White House spokesperson said her companies are no longer active and “the First Lady has no intention of using her position for profit and will not do so.”
Her father was in the League of Communists of Slovenia, which espoused a policy of state atheism.
Be Best, honey…
Hmmm. As I see it, she came to the U.S. on a Genius Visa as an escort. If she doesn’t want to use her position for profit, why does she charge a fee for using her photo to publications?
Anything to screw TRUMP is fine with me!!! ?
It shows the mentality. These people are all about money. That’s the beginning middle and end of everything.
“Bring me Moose and Squirrel!!!”
*smirk*
Guess those repeated hand swats in public were a reminder to pony up oily fat grub in a suit.
You want to hold Melania’s hand, you pay for it. As stated, I’m starting to like her. I hope she gave him a cost sheet: 1. Hand holding $100K, 2. Smiling in public, $200K, 3. Saying nice things about Trump, $500K and up.
Um yea ok, but guess who gets the bill
I’m sure he’s paid more for err…”services”. Besides her lithium power packs don’t come cheap.
If they did a sequel to Galaxina, Melania would be perfect in the title role. Much more mechanical than Dorothy Stratten ever was.
Oooh. You just administered a bilateral patellectomy (surgical removal of both kneecaps), especially due to the invocation of Dorothy Stratten.
That’s a mot juste if I ever saw one.
