Joe Biden did a press conference this evening. He’s not stepping down and I think our way as Democrats is clear: we have to all unite behind our standard bearer. If the likes of Michael Moore, or Rob Reiner or George Clooney want to continue to snipe at the man and undermine him, then they need to be told to get jointly and severally fucked. All of the anti-Biden sentiment has to cease. Now. And we have to unite. The press conference ended with a reporter asking Joe about one of his gaffes, saying “Vice President Trump,” and Joe’s rejoinder was, “Listen to him,” meaning Trump. And yes, that’s accurate. Biden is gaffe prone, nothing new there. But listen to the other guy.
"Listen to HIM" – says Biden about the RELATIVE mental acuity of Trump
and SO ENDS A FUCKING BRILLIANT PRESS CONFERENCE. GREAT JOB, @POTUS @JoeBiden

The press conference was good. The press conference was substantive. Joe is capable. Let’s just everybody enjoy this moment and stop sniping at the man.
What do you say to Trump using your gaffe to mock you?
"Listen to HIM"
Biden was masterful. If this had happened at the debate or even the day after, none of this uncertainty would have unfolded.
Did he erase it? No. Did he roll much of it back? You bet your ass.

Jonathan Swan posted this in the New York Times coverage of the news conference.
People close to Trump are thrilled about Biden’s solid enough performance. It was strong enough, they perceive/hope, to keep his candidacy alive. They foresee a landslide with Biden as their opponent and would rather not have anything happen to introduce risk, change or uncertainty. The status quo is their clear preference, even if they hardly fear Kamala Harris.
I hope to find some further elaboration on this point elsewhere. I can’t see them hoping that Biden stays in the race. My take on it is that Biden stepping down and letting Kamala take the lead would result in utter chaos and that, God forbid, would make Trump the “normalcy candidate.” Joe staying in is liable to bring about the same result as the last Biden-Trump match. But I get the psychology of Trump people saying they want Biden to stay in. Here are other notes and you can read the play by play commentary in the New York Times.
-
Best qualified: Most of the questions from reporters were about Democratic calls for him to step aside, which he again rejected, insisting that, “I think I’m the best qualified person to do the job.” Also for the first time, Mr. Biden conceded that polls show “other people can beat Mr. Trump in the fall,” but added that, “it’s hard to start from scratch.”
-
China policy: The president gave a long, detailed answer to a question about the economic and political competition with China, appearing more comfortable dealing with the foreign policy issues at the heart of the just-concluded NATO meeting in Washington.
-
Political outreach: Earlier in the day, the Biden campaign dispatched staff members to Capitol Hill to meet with Democratic lawmakers in an effort to calm their nerves, even as more members of the House called on the president to step aside.
-
Campaign assesses Harris: Mr. Biden’s campaign has begun to assess the strength of Vice President Kamala Harris in a head-to-head matchup against former President Donald J. Trump, according to three people informed about the voter survey who insisted on anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the information.
I will say it again and this is where I stand and I am immovable from this position: I say that we unite behind our standard bearer and that we, as Democrats, encourage the naysayers to shut up. We do not need negativity or division at this time, we need to beat Donald Trump.

I agree Ursula. I like watching Brian Tyler Cohen and he did a poll with about 20,000 viewer about Biden staying in the race and it was like 86% to stay and 16% to leave. Of course I voted for him to stay 🙂
Just saw a piece published on the USA Today website, with the (tongue-firmly-in-cheek) headline:
“How did Biden do? Sure, press conference went well. BUT NOW HE MUST DO 100 PUSHUPS!!”
Also came across a video (possibly Meidas Touch, posted on YouTube) calling for equal analysis of Trump’s gaffes as well as Biden’s.
That final comeback (“Just listen to HIM!”) to a snide question shouted from the room as Biden left the podium is a classic, and should.be amplified to put the doubters in their place.
Like Rep. Clyburn, I’m ridin’ with Biden.
ratf–cking by abbott and patrick in texas. Biden calls, gets no response from either for Hurricane Beryl. They deny, claim they never got a call. meanwhile 2 million texans have no power because of republican policies. (we know they are republican because they have been in charge for 30 years). the houston chronicle is on this story.
Trump would indeed love Biden to drop out. So would Putin, Xi and Kim. All the enemies of the USA are united in that. Trump’s their stooge and they’re doing all they can to help undermine Biden.
Dignity and statesmanship vs. a lifelong idiot who now exhibits full-blown dementia. Yeah, that’s going to be a landslide alright but not for Von Shitzinpants. Or, I guess I should say it will be a landslide for Biden IF the msm stops lying, spreading disinformation, etc. I guess we probably need to also hope the idiots at DOJ don’t create yet ANOTHER october surprise like they did in 2016 (and why haven’t the f*ckers who created that p.o.s. lie been arrested for criminal use of non-existent crimes?).
Folks, we need to do a clean sweep of some of our institutions–the cons on the s.c., DOJ, the media…They do not control this nation nor should they be allowed anywhere NEAR those controls. The six cons have committed a treason so felonious, all six of them should be executed: they have ignored the text of what is actually in the US Constitution and created their own. This cannot stand nor can they be allowed to continue. It is imperative that GOTV efforts concentrate, not only on Bidens reelection, but also on cleaning out the cons in the house and senate. We can get the federal judiciary working as it SHOULD be working but not with the garbage we have now in the house and senate. Time to show the likes of the Hawler Monkey, Cotton, Johnson and all the rest of those pieces of sh*t the door–and they should be mighty grateful that is all we show them given THEIR treason.
I am with you, Ursula.
We knew there was going to be some kind of last minute chaos created by the R’s, like what happened to Hilary Clinton, so here it is. A brokered convention, and all the disunity and hell that would create for our side, cannot happen.
I am RIDDEN WITH BIDEN! Any (so called) Democrat that says otherwise needs to be told in no uncertain terms to STFU!!
