Joe Biden has been president for only a few hours and while I want you to bask in the glow and savor the moment, do not lose sight of the fact of where we really are. This isn’t a fairy tale and now that the monster has been vanquished we’ll live happily ever after. No, this is like Franklin Delano Roosevelt taking over the helm from another unabashed Republican disaster, Herbert Hoover. Take a look at what Biden’s walking into:

  • He has to fix the vaccine rollout. Alex Azar and Trump did massive damage to this situation. Trump lying about the “federal stockpile” and how wonderful everything is didn’t help.
  • Stem the tide of the pandemic in order to save as many Americans as possible while vaccines are distributed over the next nine months. And this is going on while a new strain of the virus is getting rolling.
  • Deal with the complex cyber attack on America by Russia.
  • Get stimulus checks out to individuals and businesses being crushed by COVID.
  • Deal with a seat of government that has been turned into a Green Zone.
  • Manage a potential insurgency from extremists who have been threatening assault and assassination of high-ranking government figures. This is no small thing. As we speak, MAGA media is raising the political temperature.
  • Confirm a cabinet. The Senate Republicans are stonewalling, per usual.
  • Work with an opposition party whose voters, by a margin of 3-to-1, believe that Biden lost the election and has overturned American democracy in a literal coup d’etat. I don’t want to sound like the prophetess of doom, but you saw two weeks ago how many crazies there are. There are people listening to right-wing media who think that Trump is going to establish a new seat of power in Texas.

In all events, this is the basic outline for the first thirty days and then of course Biden will unveil his plan for the first 100 days. But Joe Biden has to hit the ground running to clean up Trump’s mess. This is the long and the short of it.

And I think he’ll do it. I have absolute confidence in the abilities of our elected leaders and the fact that he’s starting out with a unified government bodes well. My only point is that there’s a lot of balls in the air and these are the main ones. And we have a polarized and hostile political climate in this country. And worst of all, we have a horrendous disinformation machine pumping away day and night.

Not trying to be depressing, just want us all to keep one foot on the ground. Enjoy the rest of the Inauguration. The stars are out tonight and they never came out for Trump.

Help keep the site running, consider supporting.

    • The Senate might be more problematic than House. The House seems to have the proof, but if more can be tied to the traitors expel Gosar, Brooks, Boebert; and fire the first shot of justice which is POLITICAL IN NATURE but if proof is solid all the better. And then let DOJ, FBI and US Attorneys take a peak and charge if warranted.

Then get more info and closed hearings into the riot. Any hard proof should be announced in public hearings. Then let Senate do its dance.

    • There’s a whole list in the House. And it should start with that lowlife Jim Jordan. He’s guilty of letting young boys be violated even before you get to his role in the sedition.

  1. The only way out is to be realistic. I respectfully point out we are far from a “unified government”. With congress full of traitors & cult members, moscow mitch as minority leader, & frump’s cult members embedded throughout, unity looks far far away.

    • Then, in the spirit of realism, let me point out how we outnumber these bastards. And said bastards are going to be spending months to come at each other’s throats.

  2. Forge ahead, damn the torpedoes, and forget about bipartisanship. Biden has an effective majority in the Senate and he should exploit it to the hilt.

    • Effective being the key word. Biden should get consideration for his plans. The Republicans know the wolves that are on the other side. However, can they do enough to silence and keep enough of the sane ones to get reelected? Horse trades. If the R’s want something then they must willing to vote on the damn things that they want. No more Obama giving them all and then not even one vote for.

    • I have no interest in the hypocrisy of the police state. All those former presidents committed crimes against humanity, & i voted for Clinton & Obama twice. Stop allowing the rich set policies, avoid taxes, & avoid consequences, that the poor never do. I stand with Reverend Barber from my home state & his Poor People’s Campaign. So damn the torpedos. When the foundation has rot. Rebuild, don’t repaint with pomp & circumstance

  3. With the hurried departure of the Trompador from Washington I have to admit that I’m going to miss having such a great target for ridiculing, however, I do reserve the right to point out when Joe Biden makes a mistake (which he has done on a couple of instances). I’d prefer to point out that they are simply errors in that he probably didn’t know the actual historical facts.

OK – first of all his statement that WolfeTone ‘founded the United Irishmen’. While he was probably the most important leader, the actual founder was Dr William Drennan and Tone wasn’t even a founding member – he was sworn into the organisation on the Cave Hill just outside Belfast by Thomas Russel and Henry Joy McCracken.

‘Delaware is written on my heart’ That isn’t actually a paraphase of Joyce. Joyce himself paraphrased Mary I (Mary Tudor/Bloody Mary, Queen of England) who declared in 1558 that ‘Calais would be engraved on her heart’ following the loss of the last English territory in what is now France. She, btw, was also responsible for the first English ‘plantations’ by driving out the O’Mores and O’Connors, forming ‘Kings’ and ‘Queens’ counties (now Laois and Offaly) and settling tjhem with loyal English

As for standing holding a caman in front of a portrait of Michael Collins, somebody really should have pointed out that Collins signed the Treaty accepting the oath of allegiance and handing over the Six Counties as well as borrowing British artillery to shell the Republican forces in Dublin, thereby starting the Civil War.

      • I actually AM Irish (not Irish-American) so mistakes regarding my own country can be a tad glaring to me, even if not to others.

Anyway, all I said was that I do reserve the right to point out mistakes.

Oh and try this beauty from the Brits: just because Joe’s ancestor left the UK when a component part, namely Ireland, was being systematically plundered to the point of literal starvation, he should be ‘friendly’ to the Brits

      • I have to agree Bare, the unfortunate position we now face will require a LOT of dedicated investigations, proof of ties to Stupid and the wave of violence at the Capitol, I DO want to see that Cruz idiot and Nunes with others do time for their casual attitude and support of criminal activity ….

  4. Yes, and Hannity can keep on whining. It’s historic, and he can’t do a dam thing about it, and he knows it. Time for him to take early retirement.
