Beto O’Rourke Doesn’t Mince Words. “Trump is responsible for these deaths.”

El Salvador native Óscar Alberto Martínez Ramirez despaired of ever being able to present himself and his family to apply for refugee status in the United States at the border crossing Brownsville, Texas, as was their legal right, due to Trump’s decree that border stations no longer perform that basic function of their mission.

In his despair ÓRamírez braved swimming a narrow but swift running section of the Rio Grande, first helping his young daughter Valeria, before returning to the other side to assist his wife Tania. 

The first part of the plan went well.  Óscar sat his daughter on the opposite bank and turned to go for his wife when the little girl, perhaps having heard talk of children separated from their parents by the vile regime, jump into the river to follow her father. Óscar struggled against the deadly current, managing to tuck little Valeria into his T-shirt, before succumbing to the river’s flow.

Last night, Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke boldly proclaimed the truth:

The time for public figures temporizing, downplaying, or outright apologizing for the actions of the sociopath in the Oval Office must come to an end.

Pehaps Beto’s clear, unequivocal statement will help to hasten its demise.

So come on, politicians and reporters, it’s not that hard.

Trump is responsible for these deficits.

Trump is responsible for farm income being down.

Trump is responsible for the incivility.

Trump is responsible for the rapes.

Trump is responsible for racist terror attacks.

Trump is responsible for the deaths of children.

Say the truth and it will set you (and us) free.
