Magical thinking is the essence of the prosperity consciousness gospel. Jim Bakker tells his congregation that if they just do two things, bee-leave and send him money, that they’ll be fine, just fine.
Take a look at this proposition from Bakker. He’s going to get you out of debt for just a thousand bucks. What’s that you say? Is he a bankruptcy lawyer? No, but the fact of the matter is, if all you’ve got is a thousand bucks and a mountain of debt, you’re better off going to the lawyer than giving your money to this charlatan.

I wouldn’t spend $1,000 on a blanket unless it was made of mink, but then I’m a woman of doubt and Jim Bakker is a man of faith.
I went and looked at the website, and apparently there's something about this blanket that warrants a California Prop 65 warning, which means that something in this blanket is known to cause cancer and other problems.

I don’t know how stupidity reached epidemic proportions in this country, but it did. If there’s any justice in the world, Bakker would be sleeping on a park bench with his miracle blanket and his apocalyptic turkey tettrazini, you know, the stuff that’s in foil and it lasts for 25 years? Right.
Looks like we need someone to run the money changers out of the temple again.
I agree, it’s almost too late already … overflowing hospitals, people dead because they can’t even be wedged in around the, “I won’t take that vaccine, and no one is going to tell me different”, crowd …
These sad and unfortunate people should be wheeled out to a large circus tent behind the hospital with info tags attached, name, address, person/s phone number to make arrangements — a cot and pillow instead of hundreds of tubes and wires, maybe an IV drip sleep maker … all very cruel and illegal thoughts, but think about those over-worked frontline health workers that cannot save those that show up for ER help and die because we won’t do the right thing, because?
This clown of many days past has reached even lower into the abyss of dark magic and dipped out another freaky scheme … when some of these, “on the edge of reality”, poor folks, that send their last $1000, to the idiot, get the big NOTHING back, come looking for him, using their 12 ga. for a cane, there won’t be anyone that can find his rabbit hole …

There was some preacher – this was years back, so my memory isn’t recalling details – who sent out letters containing a “prayer cloth”, in return for which you were supposed to send money to him. It was about 8×10 with a picture of Jesus printed on it, and probably cost about 50 cents each in large quantities.
Needless to say, I didn’t send money – I hadn’t sent for it.

I remember way back when I was growing up that A. A. Allen preached on TV, and if you sent him $1 he’d mail you a “healing hanky”. It’s always about money.

\Well, Bakker seems not to have learned his lesson from doing jail time for his fraud in the 80s. Maybe we need to sikk Susan Collins on him.
How can this guy be back to do what sent him to prison in the first place, continue to do the same thing. Don’t people ever learn.

The very first time I ever saw any of these T.V. charlatans was when I was 18 and lived in MS (hideous place BTW). It’s Sunday night, about 10 PM and I’m going to stay up a bit and watch the tube for a bit. What’s on? Nothing EXCEPT FOR this idiot and the bimbette he was married to-the ‘lude queen who wore a pound of mascara, big hair, and could cry a f*cking river on command. That was all that was on. Having never seen a circus like this I watched it for all of maybe 15 minutes. It became very clear to me I was living in a nation of idiots and a state of morons. Seriously tho’, I thought it was a joke right? Oh hella no. Folks in that area though Jim and Tammy Faye were f*cking sliced bread wearing the cat’s pajamas.
