Yet another Trump cabinet member that I cannot stand. He is so NOT qualified for his position. He is making a mockery of the “war department”. Is he finally up to his ears in alligators enough that they may get to take a couple of bites out of him? Could we be so lucky? From CNN:

The Pentagon’s internal watchdog has completed a month-long review of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s use of Signal to discuss sensitive military operations and has submitted its findings to Hegseth for review, two people familiar with the matter told CNN. Hegseth will now have the opportunity to comment and provide feedback on the Pentagon Inspector General’s findings, which is standard practice for such reviews, before the final report is provided to Congress in the coming days, the sources said. A version of it will likely be made public, one of the sources said.

He definitely effed up. We know that much. But I expect he’ll have a fit and deny, deny, deny. Will we actually see anything on it? I’m not so sure he won’t be able to redact so much that we learn nothing. I have this ugly feeling that we won’t get any sort of concrete information. But I do hope they’ll have found out that he *did* eff up. Could we be so lucky?

The Office of the Inspector General declined to comment, telling CNN that “to protect the integrity of our process, we do not discuss ongoing reviews.” Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson told CNN that “per longstanding Department of War policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations.” In July, however, Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that Hegseth had provided a written statement to the inspector general and called the IG review “a political witch hunt by Biden administration holdovers” and “a sham, conducted in bad faith and with extreme bias.”

Dude is possibly, maybe, a little bit scared. Dredging up old, worn-out excuses is not a good way to say you’re innocent. Blaming everything on Biden is not going to fly. It makes you look weak. If you can’t be creative, why bother? Just keep your mouth shut (which Hegseth doesn’t know how to do). Methinks the man doth protest too much.

The top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee requested an IG review to determine whether Hegseth violated any laws related to the handling of classified information or records retention for federal employees. Hegseth’s account shared details about the anti-Houthi military operation in at least two separate Signal group chats, one of which included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer, CNN has reported.

After the article from The Atlantic, we know he *did* share classified information on Signal. That’s some pretty big proof right there. And I am still screaming about the fact that one of our people was talking to Putin at the same time this was going on. I bet Putin would have loved the information. But, back to our story. So yes, we do know *something*. If they do release a report, it will be very interesting to see if that’s taken into account. We’re going to have to wait a while. Yet now we at least know that the IG has looked into this. And they have concluded the discovery part. If only Hegseth would get nailed to the wall.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

  1. If Kegsbreath was chatting with someone while in Russia, Putin has a full transcript
I’ve heard that mobile devices are hacked almost as soon as the plane lands
Most people savvy with Russia hijinks, bring “burner” phones when travelling there and use only in emergency.
Not that anyone in the Drumpf administration is that smart.

    • It wasn’t Kegsbreath, it was someone else. I can’t recall the name and haven’t been able to ask Google the right questions. Walz, maybe? I did not know that about the phones when in Russia. That’s … disturbing. How much more does Russia have on us? Enough to bring Trump and co down? Actually, Trump is, in a manner of speaking, not a concern. Putin wants him to stay in power because he knows Trump won’t follow through on any of his threats to Russia. They ignore what he says. Just another sign of how far we’ve fallen. Everyone else also knows Trump won’t follow through with his Russia threats. That’s sad.
