Glory be to Meidas Touch. They can crank out a product very swiftly. Just this morning, Trump was crowing to Fox News what a love fest January 6 was. Now, Meidas Touch has cut together the reality of that day, all images you’ve already seen, and the horror comes back.

But the new horror is that Trump and his GOP enablers are whitewashing the events of that day, and in doing so, setting the stage for yet another debacle.

The bottom clip is a band I don’t know, have never seen, but they seem to have it nailed. Plus I like the way the drummer twirls his sticks, haven’t seen that before.

Trump made an interesting comment at CPAC. He said, “Being impeached twice didn’t change me. I just got worse.” Remember that comment. That could mean anything.

  1. I had some flashbacks hearing Fox On The Run. It was a bubble-gum tune that got play on Top 40 radio (at least on KXOK St. Louis which was a big station in the midwest) back when I was in high school. Catchy and annoying at the same time. Kinda fitting when you think about Trump! I also remember, many years later an encounter with a co-worker who got pretty upset over it – a long story that started on the weekend and carried into the following Monday due to a couple of other women at the office giving her more shit about it. Yes, her last name was Fox (another long & weird story) but I’d long since forgotten about this song. Now I fear it’s going to be an “earworm” for a while! Again, kind of applies to Trump having wormed his way into our politics.

  2. That band is The Sweet (most folks just called them “Sweet” but they were properly known as “The Sweet”). In addition to the #5 “Fox on the Run,” they only had a few US hits: “Little Willie” (their first US hit) hit #3 in 1973; “Ballroom Blitz” hit #5 in 1975; “Action” hit #20 in 1976 (after “Fox on the Run” hit); and “Love Is Like Oxygen” which hit #8 in 1978. In the US, they did have a few minor chart appearances (four other songs reached the “Hot 100” but none got higher than #73) but they were far more successful in their native UK. In addition to the 4 US Top 10 hits, they had 6 additional Top 10 hits in the UK (including the #1 “Blockbuster”).

  3. “Trump made a….comment….that could mean anything.”

Doesn’t that cover just about everything that creature spews forth, whenever he tries to communicate verbally!?

    • Nope. Early on during an interview when asked if he supported earlier racist comments, he flatly stated, ” I stand by nothing.” That was over 4 yrs ago & it stands as a monument to his evil glory. The only truth he can exhibit is when his mouth outruns his self awareness.

  4. Far less of the memory trope here and more of the my God that Meidas spot with only a few of the insurrection moments edited together with the creature’s crazy words. This spot made me physically ill, even now, in July and after all this time. Like probably a lot of people, I’d like to move on, but I know that absent justice for all of us it isn’t easy, or maybe even possible.

And the “I got worse” after two impeachments? This one isn’t the least bit puzzling or abstract. We’re in the midst of dozens of stop the steal attempts because of his incessant lies; and of his allies using his words for their own purposes. Said it before, will say it again, this is the road to fascism and we need to know history and take it seriously. Sorry to be a downer on such a sunny Monday afternoon in July but sometimes this stuff just gets on my last nerve.
