If frustration could be harnessed, I would be a rocket ship right now, doing many orbits around the planet. I am simply fit to be tied with this technical nightmare that I can’t wake up from.
The newest development is that the software is assuring me that the newsletters are going out. However, I don’t see them in my inbox, with the exception of some test newsletter that got out somehow last night — and gave me hope that this technical nonsense was over.
Here’s the state of play:
- The newsletter is top priority. Are you getting one, yes or no?
- Second priority is the email notifications of the new posts. Are you getting those, yes or no?
- Pop ups seem to be working. Are you getting a pop up notification (assuming you have asked for one?)
- After these issues are handled, we will obtain different software to address the uprating/downrating of comments. I have looked into this, I just don’t have an answer right now.
Those are the top priorities as I see them. Any other issues you may have, please tell us and we’ll get working on them after the big problems are resolved.
Finally, you are probably seeing that the ads have vanished again. We have offended the cyber gods over at Google. That’s something else I’ve been talking to people about, but as I explained to you before, you would do better to consult an oracle for an answer rather than go to Google itself. The ways of Google are inscrutable and not revealed to us mere mortals.
Damn it, God, I’m a writer not a systems analyst. Just think of Dr. McCoy having to get in the captain’s chair and that’s about where I am now.
Hang in there, we are close to getting these problems resolved.

I do get a notification about new stories, there is a little round icon in the top upper left of my screen, where email notifications are.

I’m thinking that the software is becoming self aware and is out to get me — yes, I am losing my mind. Four years of Trump and now this bullshit will do it to you,

That is why I specialised in computer hardware rather than software. The basis is that, if pi$$ed off, you can KICK hardware.

Yes, I’m getting the newsletter. The picture “Story Heading” at the top everyday is not changing like it used to. Stays the same for a week at a time ( so far ). New stories pop up at random locations, I assume that is also being worked on. I’m still happy, enjoy the point of view.
I’m not clear on what you’re saying: What is “story heading?” Are you talking about the preamble, where I used to write a synopsis of the previous month? I also don’t know what “new stories pop up at random” means. Does that mean that you occasionally get an email notification but not all the time?

I was receiving email notices of new posts, but that has stopped.
I do get pop up notices of new posts, which I actually prefer over emails.

So far the pop ups seem to be the one thing working. That’s good to know, it eliminates one issue. I am determined to have the other two biggies, the newsletters and email notification of posts, solved this weekend. Knock wood, burn candles, anything to bring us luck.

I have seen no disruption of any of the methods of communication. Email Notices, Pop Up articles and the main News letter.
Are you saying that you RECEIVE a daily newsletter? Because if that’s true, you are the only person I’ve talked to who has said that.
I am spending a huge amount of time just trying to access your web page. More often than not I get the error message. I was beginning to think the site had closed down. Glad to see it hasn’t, so I will persevere until you solve your problem. I have just signed up for the newsletter, so can’t comment on that.

Haven’t seen that since you started this change. BUT that said, I’m accessing PZ through my bookmark and have all articles accessible through the home page. There is a little icon in the lower left of the page (courtesy of webpushr) that lists notifications I may have missed. I missed out getting my Llewellyn’s astrological calendar for 2021. Is Mercury retrograde or something? That would explain some of these troubles. 🙂
No newsletter, no notifications. Pop-ups yes. Also of all the stories go the front page I can only read this one and the Mary Trump one. All the others give me an internal server error message that does NOT go away after multiple tries. I just can’t read them.
No newsletter, no notification of new posting. My system is not configured to receive pop ups, although my wife receives them on her computer. More than a few of the Politizoom posts (which I access by opening your web page) fail to open, but return a ‘500 internal server error’ and suggests I contact the administrator at ‘webmaster @ politizoom’. If I persevere I can usually eventually get it to open after a number of attempts. I guess we’re lucky that we’re always rewarded by reading high quality content once we persevere. Thanks for the site. Hope you destroy the bugs soon.

Have not received newsletters or notifications since the transition. I just go to the website on a daily basis. Sorry you’re having so many technical issues.

Late to the party, I guess. I got a few article announcements — like one every three days, but no newsletters. I thought the site had changed its format. The announcements reminded me to check in once in a while, but I missed a lot of stuff — like the fact that the site was having problems. I finally started getting the newsletter again today — the 15th. Thanks for sticking with it; if I don’t see a name in my inbox, I forget to visit.
