AOC Calls Lauren Boebert a “useless piece of furniture” Insulting Table Lamps Everywhere.

After Colorado saloon owner and representative Lauren Boebert tweeted Wednesday that “you can’t legislate away evil” in response to Democrat’s impassioned pleas for sane gun legislation, New York representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had heard enough from her, telling the press:

“Why even be in Congress if you don’t believe in doing your job?” responded Ocasio-Cortez. “Just quit and let someone who actually gives a damn do it instead of acting like a useless piece of furniture when babies are shot with AR15s that we let teen boys impulse buy before they can legally have a beer.”

Much as I hate to disagree with AOC, I have to point out that even furniture serves a more useful purpose in Congress than Boebert whose typical response to school shootings has been to call for more police and guns in them, even though the American Medical Association has issued a study pointing out that such measures are not really helpful:

A 2021 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that “the data suggest no association between having an armed officer and deterrence of violence” at schools. Instead, the study found the rate of deaths was higher in schools with armed guards. The study also pointed out that armed guards aren’t a deterrent because many school shooters are suicidal.

A case in point for the AMA’s conclusion might in fact be the tragic shooting at the Uvalde Texas grade school Tuesday where armed officers basically did crowd control on a group of beside themselves parents who pleaded with cops to do something, anything, while the gunman was alone in the school with students and teachers for Up to an hour

“Uvalde, Texas — Frustrated onlookers urged police officers to charge into the Texas elementary school where a gunman’s rampage killed 19 children and two teachers, witnesses said Wednesday, as investigators worked to track the massacre that lasted upwards of 40 minutes and ended when the 18-year-old shooter was killed by a Border Patrol team.

“Go in there! Go in there!” nearby women shouted at the officers soon after the attack began, said Juan Carranza, 24, who saw the scene from outside his house across the street from Robb Elementary School in the close-knit town of Uvalde. Carranza said the officers did not go in.

Javier Cazares, whose fourth grade daughter, Jacklyn Cazares, was killed in the attack, said he raced to the school when he heard about the shooting, arriving while police were still gathered outside the building.“

Upset that police were not moving in, he raised the idea of charging into the school with several other bystanders.

“Let’s just rush in because the cops aren’t doing anything like they are supposed to,” he said. “More could have been done.”

Yeah, sure Boebert, what we need is more effective policing like this.

You don’t have to answer, Congresswoman, I’ll ask the potted plant.

  1. There’s data available regarding armed guards in schools: they run the other way when a shooter comes on the scene because they are not going to have their lives taken in these situations (Parkland, FL).

  2. AOC can’t even “influence” her own district…….“We are seeing these headlines about percentage increases,” Ocasio-Cortez said, reducing recent incidents such as a tourist shot in broad daylight in Times Square and kids ducking for cover amid a gang shooting in the Bronx to mere statistics.

“Now I want to say that any amount of harm is unacceptable and too much. But I also want to make sure that this hysteria, you know, that this doesn’t drive a hysteria and that we look at these numbers in context so that we can make responsible decisions about what to allocate in that context.”

    • I’ll bet you live in a red area where everyone is armed to the teeth. And the gun crimes are higher per thousand than they are in NYC.

    • I was a,teacher and librarian. I confronted a, pedophile targeting g aca 12_year old girl Our security guard was up useless. When he was replaced by a,retired cop who banned him from the branch, he ambushed the cop as he left the branch and used brass knuckles to the tune of 28stitchesin his gphead. I had transferred by that time, but after he threw got ended me,,my husband 3vlack belts,2brown) came to.that branch when I worked nights. My bus stop was in a,dimly lit area, with plenty of hiding g spots for an ambush. He was, afraid of my husband because,I made sure he overheard me telling my boss,”My husband is coming to.meet me tonight, and he is a martial.artist with a bunch of black belts.”

AOC? I.love here as much as I hated my GA,Senators (Is asks on and Perdue and my Congressloon). I would have voted for spotted plant above them, and voted Den or for Mickey Mouse if the R was unopposed. She is smart and co.patent and has common sense. They did not. Would have voted for Warnock and Is off happily. I pray they win. Now I have Warren and Markey and McGovern because,MA,is sane.

  3. I don’t think any of these horrific shootings will ever end until we outlaw these automatic rifles to the general public! These guns are weapons of war. The only people who should have them should be our law enforcement and should only be used in cases of extreme emergencies.

  4. Had the cops and border patrol officers gone rushing into the building, the shooter would have just started shooting them also. It would have accomplished nothing except to have more dead victims.

    • Bullshit. That is their damned job. If they aren’t willing to take the risk, they shouldn’t take the paycheck.
I was an inner city school.librarian. My job required a master’s. First year I took a knife away from a budding psychopath who bounced cheated mental.hospital, juice and public school. I was 25,5’2″ and weighed a120 pounds fully clothed. I had no weapon, and he was 6 inches taller and 40pounds heavier. I had no weapon and no way to call.for help because the,PA didn’t work from the classroom, just the office.
I hope you are never in my position. Don’t ever join the police or the military. You are a coward.

  5. I’ve lived in two places where guns are easily available: Iraq & Afghanistan. The U.S. is becoming more like them than them like us.

  6. Dino, I don’t think you and AOC actually disagree on Boebert. I think AOC merely used a euphemism in order to keep “decorum” (and pearl-clutching over expletives) out of the conversation.

  7. What I don’t understand is how these officers could stand outside while this punk was inside shooting people. And the officers stopped when they got wounded. This isn’t football. You can’t call time out. They weren’t dead. What the hell did they think he was going to do with a assault rifle in a school, shoot pigeons. We all react differently but the last thing you do is quit. The only good thing that happened was Beto ORouke confronting those republicans and showing what cowards they are. Couldn’t even engage him in a conversation about this. They kicked him out. The cowards!
