What was it that Lindsey Graham said in 2015? Oh yeah, “If we nominate Trump we will be destroyed and we will deserve it.” If you’re noticing a pattern here with John Cornyn, Bill Cassidy, the Indiana State Senators and now Thomas Massie, you’re not alone. “Weak-minded Lauren Boebert,” as Trump called her the other day, can rest easy. It’s too late for a primary in Colorado although with the roll that Trump is on, maybe he can mount a successful write-in campaign against Boebert?
President Donald Trump got his desire on Tuesday evening as Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), a longtime thorn in his side who frequently bucks the GOP on key votes and co-sponsored the bill to release the Jeffrey Epstein case files, lost his re-nomination to MAGA-endorsed former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein.
The result triggered a firestorm from commenters on social media, many of whom noted the president’s ongoing power and control over the electorate of the Republican Party.
“Another scalp for President Trump,” wrote Fox News reporter Bill Melugin.
“Donald Trump has scored a major win in Kentucky, where Ed Gallrein has defeated Rep. Thomas Massie after Trump endorsed Gallrein and outside groups poured heavily into the race,” wrote VoteHub’s Zachary Donnini. “The result removes one of Trump’s most visible Republican critics from Congress.”
“Thomas Massie made the closing argument in his incumbency campaign about Israel, and he barnstormed the district with influencers to make that case,” wrote commentator Jordan Schachtel. “Turns out the citizens of KY-4 care more about Kentucky & America than they do about hyper online lunatics & their obsessions.”
“Ed Gallrein defeats Thomas Massie in Kentucky 4,” wrote Clay Travis of the right-wing site OutKick. “Trump goes 3 for 3 in his targets in primaries — Indiana state senators, Bill Cassidy in Louisiana and now Thomas Massie in Kentucky.”
“Massie, Cassidy, Cornyn, the Indiana Rs — it’s retribution 2.0 for Trump, only for the GOP this time,” wrote NOTUS’ Igor Bobic. “Huge message for other Rs thinking about crossing him.”
“If Thomas Massie loses, there needs to be a mass exodus from the Republican Party, and he should lead the way by running for President as an Independent or in a Third Party,” wrote Liam McCollum of the Montana Libertarian Party.
The GOP is hollowing out before our eyes and MAGA is becoming the New GOP. So what happens when Trump leaves office? Don Junior or Ivanka? If it’s gotten this crazy it can get that crazy. But can Junior or Ivanka spin the Trump *magick* which is to believe every lie that comes out of his mouth? That’s the key and nobody does it like Trump. Would Junior or Ivanka even try?

Well, damn! I was hoping……even with all the bad things I’ve just found out about Massie, he still had his moments.
They’ve gone mega maga on R candidates – and painted themselves into a corner. They’ve chosen candidates only maga votes for, no-one else.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on the MAGAt candidate winning, given the switch from the classic “Yellow Dog Democrat” into the “Yellow Dog Republican.” (The phrase originated from the old Democratic “Solid South” where a voter would vote for any Democrat–even if it was a yellow dog. Nowadays, we see that trend among GOP voters–no matter who it is, if there’s an “R” behind the name or the name appears in the “R” column, that person gets the vote.)
When will voters realize that the “R” after the name stands for Racist?
Since Massie has nothing to lose now, he could work against them until January. Always hopeful!
