When you think of the administration of this country, you think about everyone you see in one of their morning meetings. You don’t think about “support staff”, of which there must be a lot when you consider what’s going on every day, in public or in private. Someone else has decided they have had enough, and considering who they were supporting, it’s surprising they took this long. Respect to Raw Story:

Another top Trump administration official announced plans to leave the White House, Axios reported on Tuesday. Emily Underwood, top deputy to Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, has announced a departure for Trust Ventures, a venture capital firm, where she will be a partner.

Now, this isn’t something that we would normally expect: publicly leaving. But Ms. Underwood is, and may she enjoy her new position after escaping Trump’s White House. We have yet to hear anything good about Stephen Miller, or his wife, for that matter. They’re severely racist. Stephen is the one who chose the insane quotas for removing illegal immigrants, even if they’re trying to become legal. He loses his temper in public. Being his top deputy must have been challenging, especially if he’s as nasty in private.

Underwood has been with the Trump administration throughout President Donald Trump’s second term, Axios reported. She has focused on policy, including implementing a strategy across the federal government on nuclear energy research and development. Underwood’s departure set off fireworks on social media. “It’s a sinking ship,” Democratic strategist Mike Nellis posted on X about the news.

Perhaps it actually is a sinking ship in terms of actuality and not rhetoric. Perhaps the theories are correct. But it seems the people who have moved on thus far have been surprises, instead of whom one might expect. On the other hand, he has a whole lot more loyalists this time around, and they generally know how to handle him. Now that’s not how people handled him in his first administration. That group managed to keep him from doing too many stupid things. It hasn’t worked that way this time. His current lot handles him to keep their jobs, whether or not they know anything about it.

Ms. Underwood has decided it’s time for her to move on, and she did that on her own. She wasn’t fired. She made her own decision. Anyone would be happier to make that decision for themselves. Congratulations to her on escaping Stephen Miller. And Trump.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
