When you have someone who is widely recognized, and that someone turns their attention to you, it would be better to duck and cover than face him. He has been on the air longer than anyone else today. He knows his job, and he knows the news for it. This man has subtle, worldwide power. He rarely uses it, but this time, he went full verbal nuclear. With respect to Raw Story:

CBS News head Bari Weiss suffered an embarrassing public blow on Sunday when Anderson Cooper, one of the most recognized news anchors in the world, was allowed to deliver thinly veiled criticism of her leadership — catching her completely off guard.

We have to enjoy this, even though the article just showed up.  Weiss is not a good leader. She is there purely under the direction of outside interests,  not the truth. It was a mistake to give her the position and then have her babble what she’s told to do. CBS is seemingly bleeding talent, especially since Mr. Cooper left the show. That’s a big deal. That’s a very big deal.

In the interview, Cooper stressed that “independence” is “crucial” to the show and that trust with viewers is “critical. Most pointedly, he emphasized that overseeing the program “requires an appreciation of the history and the sacrifices and the hard work of the people here.”

Ouch. And ouch again. He didn’t give us any names. It seemed he was being careful not to call anyone out. But we know what it meant, and it appears that Bari Weiss did, too. The explosion must have been something to see. When she was chosen as head of CBS, the station seemed to have immediately started going downhill. Being partisan and running CBS don’t exactly work well together. She seems underqualified for her position.

Darcy pointed out it must have felt particularly humiliating to Weiss, who had personally made overtures to Cooper to expand his presence at the network — only to have Cooper decline and then use that same platform to criticize her leadership. Executive producer Tanya Simon, who oversees “60 Minutes,” has attempted to balance placating Weiss while maintaining the integrity of the newsmagazine. However, Weiss’s displeasure over Cooper’s remarks ultimately reached Simon, according to sources. A CBS News spokesperson declined to comment to Status on the matter.

Crash and burn. Those were hard hits from a news program on her network. There’s not much she can do since he has completely left the station. Any attempt to drag his name through the mud will be laughed off. It’s Anderson Cooper, after all. He has earned the respect of the world many times over. At this point, we’re onto “what will she do next”? It’s hard to see a venerated institution go all MAGA. We remember Walter Cronkite. We remember some of the stories he gave us. Now we’ve lost Mr. Cooper. How badly are they going to screw up 60 Minutes now?

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. “She seems underqualified for her position.”

Which in Trumpworld makes her perfectly qualified.

She’s not there to run things, she’s there to run things down and out.
