It’s not official yet, but it certainly is coming. Does Trump realize that what he’s doing is the same as what Russia did to Ukraine? Because I’ve noticed. A war in Iran, and it is going to be senseless when he cannot stop others. And of course, there are very strong feelings about Ukraine being told you have to give up your lands and every type of shizzle. It pisses me off. But back to Iran craziness. Thanks to Raw Story:

Issued by the State Department early Friday, the directive cited threats from “violent extremists” who, according to the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, are “plotting possible attacks in Israel.” The agency urged Americans to “reconsider” traveling to Israel effective immediately, and encouraged those already in the country to consider leaving.
To which we say, oh HELL YES. Possible war? Get on the first plane you can find before it starts. If it starts, and we’re losing hope that it *won’t*, planes may not be available to *get* out anymore. It feels like this is going to become a Vietnam. Ridiculously worried here. We’re going to waste money and supplies and PEOPLE because Iran has a lot of land that’s not friendly to humans unless you live there. We’ll be screwed.

Yee Effing Haa. This really is the Russia-Ukraine war, a huge buildup and attack. At this point, we have to assume he’s going through it. This country does not need another war. And it’s going to explode very soon. WHY does he want another war that’s going to kill us, figuratively speaking, and we will *lose*. Winning a war with Iran will shock the hell out of us if it occurs. Remember the “total destruction” last year that was nowhere close to what happened? Yea no.

Trump and red lines do not come to the table. Last we knew, he didn’t *have* redlines. What do you want to bet it’s something to do with his grifting? Unfortunately, we can bet *that* document is never going to be leaked. Maybe it will be after everything’s finalized.
You know Trump is likely to be protecting Bibi with another war starting, so Bibi doesn’t have the Tribunal looking at him for war crimes. Every little thing that happens with Trump, added into this, that is of public knowledge, will give them SO much more material to use. H0 h0 ho. We can giggle about it because it’s so damn obvious. We can cry about it when we go to war because we will be. Ukraine and Russia, Gaza and Israel, and us and Iran. What a bunch of bullshizzle.

Susan, you are an expert writer about everything happening within the US. You are knowledgeable and clearly educated. I love reading your stuff about local USA politics, about which you are so obviously well versed. But EVERYTHING about this piece says you know NOTHING about the history of the Middle East and you understand NOTHING about what has been REALLY going on the past fifty-ish years, so I’ll state it again. Hamas invading Israel and murdering and kidnapping their people was analogous to Russia invading Ukraine and stealing its children, NOT the other way around as so many on the left have been screaming! And don’t say “but “everyone” says you’re wrong”, or I’ll be forced to ask you if the earth is still flat and if the sun and universe still revolve around the earth (hint: it isn’t and they don’t, but “everyone on earth” knew that those statements were “obviously true” for thousands of years, didn’t they???). Ursula has been asking me for years to write about the Middle East as I HAVE been involved in Israel-Palestinian peace issues for 40+ years, but I have neither the time nor patience for doing so as 1) I simply don’t have the time because of work matters, 2) I don’t believe anyone actually cares about learning facts, just spewing hatred and venom towards Israel, and 3) I genuinely SUCK as a writer. The last piece I wrote about the fallacies of the Palestinians’ arguments was a monumentally detailed and referenced 17 page “thesis” for the Green Party of Canada that I know nobody read. Ask Ursula, she helped me edit it down to 17 pages!!!

Trump and Israel going into Iran is NOT Russia-Ukraine by any measure analysis, or comprehension whatsoever!!! Iran has been screaming “Great Satan, we will destroy little satan (the land of my people) first, and then we will destroy you, Great Satan (that would be the land of YOUR people, Susan).
Do NOT shield your eyes and ears and brain cells with reflexive pacifism, Susan: the Iranians have been begging for this war since they kidnapped all those American embassy staffers in 1979 (saved of course by my other people, us Canucks). This is one of the most honest and JUST wars in centuries, along with WW2, Ukraine hitting back at Russia, and Israel defending itself against almost 80 years of non-stop wars started by Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Hezb’Allah, Iran, and of course, Hamas. Palestinian was a derogatory and hateful name applied to Jews and our land by the Romans who hated us for fighting them for over a hundred years and refusing to be destroyed in all that time. And since you have probably never read the old testament, I will advise you that the word comes from the biblically historical enemy of the Jews – the Philistines, archaeologically, a people originally from Crete and thereabouts. So not even the word “Palestinians” is Levantine in origin. AND, the P sound doesn’t even exist in Arabic. Again, it exists just fine in Greek, the language of the Philistines. So they CANNOT be originally the “Palestinian people”. What they are is Arabs who had a culture created out of the blue by Arafat AND THE KGB as a bulwark and cudgel against the Jews to deny us the right to OUR Homeland so an infinite and never-ending group of people like you can say “Hey, you have no right living on someone else’s land!”. Sorry bud, it is, and ALWAYs has been (well at least for the past 3800 years anyway) been our damn land.

You don’t have to agree with me on interpretations of facts susan, but what I say above are archaeologically backed up FACTS. And if you learned something that you want to study and teach yourself more about so you don’t just take my word for anything, GREAT! my work is done.

You have given me a LOT to think about. I will certainly admit I know only some fringe bits about the Middle East. I’ll keep in mind that more research needs to be done if I am ever speaking about that area. I don’t know if the piece I just posted is correct or not, although I feel it’s valid. I do react to events, after all.
I don’t recall I said anything about Jews and Judea. That’s not my place to say. It’s hard to say anything about who “should” live where, because it’s intensely personal. The societies there are so different it’s hard to find common ground, so to speak.
Israel-Hamas is *complicated*. My apparently incorrect impression is that Israel is committing genocide with the people of Gaza. They seem to have nowhere to go. But really, it’s COMPLICATED.
The piece was not wrong at the time I wrote it. It had too narrow a focus and a lack of information. Now I know. But I wouldn’t call it wrong.
