This article is from a few days ago, but that’s okay, as we’re going to have some fun. More has come out about the infamous ballroom. Folks are having a field day. This thing is just getting clobbered. First, the Rose Garden is turned into a Mar-A-Slobo patio, and now this? Ugh. From AlterNet:

In late July, the Trump Administration announced plans to add a 90,000-square-foot ballroom to the White House East Wing. CBS News’ Arden Farhi, on September 25, reports that “new architectural renderings” of the future ballroom “reveal in more detail.” . Farhi explains, “The new ballroom will be significantly larger than the main White House building, which comprises about 55,000 square feet over the ground floor, state floor and residence. That does not include the East and West Wings.

It’s bigger than the damn White House, 35,000 square feet bigger. Good gods. *This* is what our taxes are paying for? And updated renderings?  Just what we need – another gaudy example of Trump’s Ego. We can bet that it is modeled after a different place. You can have three guesses, but you’ll only need one. You’ll almost definitely only need one. Slapback was quick and fierce.

CBS News’ Ed O’Keefe tweeted, “SEE IT YOURSELF: New renderings show more details of the massive new White House ballroom under construction (by @ArdenFarhi).” //// Never Trump conservative Charlie Sykes commented, “Trump announced plans to Make America Gilded Again, with a gaudy $200 million White House ballroom designed in the style of Late-Stage Ceaușescu meets Liberace.” //// X user Kathleen Francis posted, “There goes the neighborhood. Next they’ll Evict Lincoln from his memorial.”

Harsh. Well, what did we expect? Nothing good, of course. Gaudy is an understatement. Why on earth did he need something like this? It’s going to be almost useless. Not only did it cost the earth, but think of the expense of anything held there. But Trump’s Ego needed it, and so it is happening. To close:

Another X user, Mary Alvar, tweeted, “The next Dem president will have a LOT of work reinstating the WH’s dignity, starting with the Oval Office, scraping out the ‘cheap Versailles’ mixed with a trinkets market, look, the Rose garden and this ‘ball room’ monstrosity.” /// Democratic activist Kim O. commented, “Narcissistic Trump is bulldozing the people’s historic White House grounds so he can build a $200 Million ballroom for him and his ultra rich friends. No one asked for a ballroom. While Americans struggle, this will be Trump’s new throne room.

WHAM. Trump’s new throne room is accurate. Any time someone sees it, this will be a massive homage to Trump’s Ego. America didn’t need this. Only a few people are going to be able to use it, so it’s worthless to us. While all of us struggle, Trump’s Ego will be holding court. It’s not worth it to us who pay taxes, and taxes in the form of tariffs. That money pours into government coffers, apparently so Trump can use it as he wishes. Ridiculous. Just ridiculous.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. if Trump ever gets out of office, we should turn the white house into a museum with all the presidential libraries in there and then build a new house of the people & for the people

  2. “In the style of Late-Stage Ceaușescu meets Liberace.”

“Trump’s throne room ‘Making America Gilded Again.”

Now might be a good time for Dimwit Donny to research how Ceaușescu ended his term in power.

Many people are saying it would be another appropriate way he imitates him.

    • I haven’t seen images of the Ceausescu decadence or Versaille, but I always thought Mar A Lago resembled the ballrooms in the Czarist Russia’s palaces. I don’t know if they still exist, but tRump may have seen them on one of his trips to Russia.
