This is a blast from the past and as funny now as it was then. Ann Richards was the 45th governor of Texas. She was Texas’ state treasurer for a while and she came to national prominence when she spoke at the 1988 Democratic National Convention. Her name comes up now, because Donald Trump’s blithering spawn, Junior, thinks that Texas is having the problems it is, because of its “Democrat governor.”
The hypocrisy of those trying to cancel Ted Cruz who have been totally silent on their Democrat Governor’s incompetence is telling. My thoughts on the Cancún Cruz fauxoutrage! #Cruz #CancunGate is fake. https://t.co/WnYe1onpIK

Nothing new here, just the monumental stupidity and ignorance you have come to associate with the name Trump.
Now back in the day, before Greg Abbott, before Rick Perry, before Dubya, even, Texas had a terrific governor, who was in fact a Democrat and that was Ann Richards.
The gentlemen’s hair is clearly not high enough for the job.?
I miss Ann Richards. Here’s a meme from the Olden Days. Shoe still fits…? pic.twitter.com/KCvcbpL1Nj

"Since Ann Richards was voted out in 94, the govs of Texas have been George W. Bush, Rick Perry & Greg Abbott—each one dumber & crookeder than the last. At the current rate of diminishing returns, Abbott will be succeeded by a decommissioned oil derrick."https://t.co/Unrq9nWz0P

Ann Richards was a goddamn American hero and anyone who wants to blame this stupid mess on her is a goddamn moron. pic.twitter.com/XFFt3cR2yR

“Goddamn moron” suits Donald Junior, all right. Yep.

I was a Repub before the Iraq war. I even campaigned for McCain. The GOP has mutated since then. Now it’s the GQP and unrecognizable.
When I heard Trump Jr. make the statement about a Democrat governor making a mess of things, I got the impression he was referring to Andrew Cuomo and covid nursing home deaths.
That may be who he meant, but it’s not the only reading, since the only state mentioned is that tweet is TX.
I was living in TX in 1994. I did NOT vote for Republicans. (However, I also know that the TX governor is *not* the most powerful person in government. That’s the Lt Gov. Or possibly the chair of the Railroad Commission.)
This is the first I’ve heard of Ms. Richards (I’m from New Hampshire) but it’s clear that if anybody’s going to save this mess it’s women. I’ve declared AOC to be our Jane of Arc, and Ms. Richards seems to be that rank. I wish the headline on this page actually offered what it proclaims. Is Ms. Faw a RINO?
Y’all that don’t know need to look up Molly Ivins. She knew Texas.
RIP Ms Molly.
