This picture is worth a thousand words and then some. The residents of a village in the UK, Bell End, have gone out of their way to erect a monument to Vladimir Putin, which makes a visual statement both about him and his geopolitics. You have to give it to them, this is cleverness on steroids.
And it doesn’t stop there. The villagers also gave eggs to passers-by in case they wanted to throw them at the statue.
This is a political statement and a mental health exercise all rolled into one. I’m sure that if Volodymr Zelensky ever has cause to visit, he’ll enjoy the experience very much.
A penis-headed statue of Vladimir Putin has been erected in the village of Bell End to commemorate him as “Bellend of the Year” in protest against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine // @PA .Fair enough. pic.twitter.com/p6ltIedLKB

Another angle of this object d’art.
Never trust, what are you reading in a newspaper. There is no village in Worcestershire called this but a road called Bell End in an area known as Rowley Regis.

I agree that accuracy is important in journalism, but I don’t think this detail detracts from the fact that the statue got built and people throw eggs at it. That’s the story.
In any event, miniatures of the statue will be sold in order to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees. Maybe we can send one or two of them to Vlad’s BFF, Donald, in Florida. Ya think?
Many thanks to our fellow Zoomer, Daithi, for sharing this gem with us.
Now what is needed is for a similar statue erected on your side of the pond to pay a similar tribute to you know who
It should be called Dickhead. The word ‘penis’ seems too dignified to label a psychopathic killer.
That’s why it’s called ‘Bellend’, English slang for the head of a penis. Look at Putin’s ‘helmet’, what is it shaped like?
This will be greatly appreciated in both Ukraine and Russia, where “Putin khuylo” (Putin is a dickhead) has already become a widespread expression. It’s the same in both languages. As far back as 2014, Ukrainian astronomers already gave this name to a newly discovered star.

I’d like to see a “Trump khuylo” bumper sticker….
OK, this may be tangentially related, but earlier this evening we caught the Netflix episode of David Letterman’s “My Next Guest” featuring Volodomyr Zelensky, which was shot in a subway station 300 feet underground. IMHO, definitely recommended!
