This picture is worth a thousand words and then some. The residents of a village in the UK, Bell End, have gone out of their way to erect a monument to Vladimir Putin, which makes a visual statement both about him and his geopolitics. You have to give it to them, this is cleverness on steroids.

And it doesn’t stop there. The villagers also gave eggs to passers-by in case they wanted to throw them at the statue.

This is a political statement and a mental health exercise all rolled into one. I’m sure that if Volodymr Zelensky ever has cause to visit, he’ll enjoy the experience very much.

Another angle of this object d’art.

I agree that accuracy is important in journalism, but I don’t think this detail detracts from the fact that the statue got built and people throw eggs at it. That’s the story.

In any event, miniatures of the statue will be sold in order to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees. Maybe we can send one or two of them to Vlad’s BFF, Donald, in Florida. Ya think?

Many thanks to our fellow Zoomer, Daithi, for sharing this gem with us.

  1. OK, this may be tangentially related, but earlier this evening we caught the Netflix episode of David Letterman’s “My Next Guest” featuring Volodomyr Zelensky, which was shot in a subway station 300 feet underground. IMHO, definitely recommended!
