I confess to amazement that Donald Trump doesn’t use Twitter for these taped rampages of his. After all, he’s got some 88 million followers over there.
Be that as it may, Donald is quite stirred up today. He wants the Republicans to shoot down the omnibus bill, which just went through the Senate handily and is on its way to the House.
The winter storm is headed in and it’s going to be a doozy, the government will shut down if the bill doesn’t pass, but what the hey? You think Trump ever lets the facts get in the way of a good story? Never. Here he is at his blathering, bombastic, bloviating, belligerent best. (2:40 seconds of raving, if you can stand it.)
Trumpty Dumpty rages again, this time on Omnibus Bill. <iframe src="https://t.co/ZjAgoB2CVx" class="truthsocial-embed" style="max-width: 100%; border: 0" width="600" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe><script src="https://t.co/jPQz948n8t" async="async"></script>

You caught all the main talking points, “no money for election security,” bla bla. The purpose of the pitch, I guess, is to rally the MAGA troops in the last few days before Xmas to spend, spend, spend. Or, to do that and to shine a spotlight on any Republicans who do vote for the omnibus bill, target on the back time, that sort of thing. MAGA v. GOP. Great way to run a party.
But MAGA stonewalling continues, simply because that’s who these clueless, crass clowns are. 31 House Republicans sent a letter to their Senate Republican colleagues threatening to oppose the legislative priorities of any GOP senator who supported the package. Forget everything from common sense to the war raging in Europe, which Volodymyr Zelensky so graphically depicted to a joint session of Congress Wednesday night, MAGA madness trumps all and Trump loves to trumpet MAGA madness beyond all.
Let him try. Let them try. My sense of all this is that there has been a sea change. The last three election cycles have borne this out. The MAGA extremism is not working. It doesn’t play at the ballot box and that’s the only place that counts.
Trump got elected in 2016 for a number of factors. Hillary was hated and she was a woman, those are two main factors. But larger than that, Trump was a novelty back in the day and people wanted to see what he could do. So a lot of otherwise intelligent people voted for him and gave him his shot. And you saw what he did with it.
Trump is the boy crying wolf at this point. Even he doesn’t believe what he says and that comes across. He’s going through the motions, playing a part that he’s clearly bored with, as an actor.
Meanwhile, legislation continues and hopefully sanity will prevail and everybody can be home in time for Xmas, with a functioning government standing in place. And Trumpty will continue to howl like the wind. And like the wind, he will fade into background noise, that is largely ignored.

Ursula you forgot he was a TV ‘star’ and tens of millions don’t read books and believe every goddamn thing they see on TV. Ignorance has killed millions and apparently will continue to do so.
Ignorance has indeed killed millions. I have a friend, a very rational professional woman, as a matter of fact, who bought into the COVID denialism. She’s never had a vaccination. I hope it doesn’t end up killing her. For my own part, I won’t play Russian roulette with life like that.
But it happens. I just read last week that a 46-year-old assistant district attorney in California died from COVID. Same deal. People choose to convince themselves of unreality, some people pay a high price.
And the really ignorant thing about it is they wouldn’t even had a high school diploma without vaccinations to go to elementary school. I have no idea how they can ignore the facts of their own life. If the population had reacted to the polio vaccine the same way, the iron lung machines would be rampart. If they ignored the smallpox vaccine…we wouldn’t have 330 million citizens. It wiped out whole populations of indigenous people. Never underestimate human stupidity. Reading your articles, I realize you rarely do.
Sometimes I wonder if stupidity doesn’t kill enough people.
GOOD point!
Yep Rob. Apparently natural selection is slow, and earth could be renamed Darwin’s Waiting Room. Ha.
