I wrote previously that it was time for the citizens of Uvalde and the rest of the citizens of Texas to grab up pitchforks and torches, and rebel against the concerted state effort to keep them from learning the truth.
It’s just gotten worse, and I seriously fear that Texas is the template of Texas’s reaction to the Uvalde school shooting is the template they want to put in place for the rest of us, if we’re ever stupid enough to put them back in control.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott is a fuck up. He’s a career fuck up who became a prime time fuck up when he went out in front of the cameras on the night of the Uvalde school shooting, and spewed forth a never ending stream of inaccurate bullshit. Fortunately, Democratic Texas gubernatorial candidate called him on it on the spot.
That was more than enough for Abbott. He’s facing a tough reelection campaign against Beto O’Rourke, and he doesn’t need any more bad press between now and election day, which is sure to come if more details of the mammoth cluster fuck he oversaw on his watch becomes public.
But Abbott kept stoppers. He had the friendly GOP States Attorney take over the case, and empanel a grand jury. She is now the bees knees in the Uvalde shooting investigation, and she’s got Abbott’s lame ass. She has announced that the results of her investigation will take at least 6 months which would take us up to Christmas Eve, at least. Which means that she won’t be announcing any results before the November election.
This is what the The Man GOP has in store for the rest of us if they ever obtain national power again. The Man will tell you what happened, and The Man will decide exactly when to tell you what happened, and The Man will never be responsible for any negative outcome. And you can forget about that pesky FOIA shit, after all, National Security is at risk here, so just sit down and shut up.
Texas is the autocracy laboratory for the rest of the country. They are pushing the envelope on every front to see just how far they can take suppressing civil liberties and constitutional rights. And the farther they can go, the farther the national GOP will go. Vote your ass off!
