Once again it is time to wonder and marvel at the characters that somehow find themselves drawn to run for political office on the Republican ticket. Washington’s 3rd congressional district boasts a “Christian mom” who writes books about that very thing, being a Christian mom, and has decided that there aren’t enough religious fringe crazies in the House of Representatives, apparently.

Listen to these two clips by Heidi St. John. She speaks of “almost audible” voices telling her to run for Congress and then she really lets loose with COVID denial.

Nothing like fire and brimstone with an anti-science flavor, don’t you agree?

Now here she speaks of her own personal visions and how politics is “stepping across the threshold of the Gates of Hell.” She might actually be on to something there. But what she hasn’t figured out, is that it is people like her in politics who have made it the Hellish landscape that it is today.

I think she literally doesn’t know what literally means, what do you think?

Maybe it’s her cat causing the voices. That happened to me once. I heard voices coming from the bedroom. It sounded like the TV was on. But when I went in there, the TV was off. A few minutes later the same thing happened. The TV kept going on and off.

Was it Satan, you ask? Well, kinda sorta maybe. It was my Persian cat on a chair in the corner. He was kneading the cushions and underneath one of the cushions was the remote control. So he was turning the TV on and off.

Who knows? Maybe I should have taken it as a sign and run for Congress.

So, tomorrow will be the beginning of another week in wingnut world. We have yet another schizophrenic-sounding COVID denying, intellectual fruit fly running for office as a Republican. What else is new?

And I checked out her website. Nothing even remotely original there. She’s in favor of stopping “endless wars.” Who isn’t? She favors “energy independence.” Who doesn’t? She believes that the educational system has failed. That, my dear, is a universal conclusion, one that was first articulated as far back as the early ’80’s.

St. John is obviously a disciple of the Thomas Massie School of Political Science, which decrees that voters “will vote for the craziest son of a bitch on the ticket.” You notice that they’re all Republicans, who subscribe to this philosophy, right? Just saying.

  1. She’s running for Jaime Herrera-Beutler’s seat. This should be a good indication if the rational rethugs outnumber the trumpists.

  2. U can call urself a can of Spam. Doesn’t make it true. The word ‘Christian’ wasn’t around during the life of Jesus. There were ‘believers’ & non believers. In dealing with this age old problem of hypocrisy, Jesus was reported time & again saying that you will know a tree by its fruit. Lies, hypocrisy, self righteousness, racism, & the worship of power gained by violence are not the kind of fruits Jesus was known for. Sounds like that voice telling her to do & say whatever may be someone else.

    • Don’t call.her axwitch. A bitch, yes. A moron, definitely. A Qunt,,most assuredly. But please stop calling appalling R women witches. It causes problems for Wiccan witches like me. Unlike Rs, we DO have ethics and morals. Right-wing Christians already give us a,hard time. We don’t cheer it from.progressives. We are liberal,,tolerant, back legislation bro deal.with climate change, racism, income inequality, and oppose dumbing down education, censorship, wars for no reason, and the dominance of billionaires, and big corporations.
