I never thought I would feel sorry for Mitch McConnell, and I don’t, but I do see with clarity the awful predicament that he’s in. His lot is to try to hold the Old Guard GOP together, to try to make them still sound like the Party of Eisenhower, Party of Reagan, moral majority people, when in fact they sound like a bunch of traitors.
McConnell went on one of the Sunday shows, of course, and he tried to do damage control by minimizing the pro-Putin wing of the GOP as a few “lonely voices” crying out in the dark.
Really Mitch? Donald Trump is one of the lonely voices? Tucker Carlson is one of the lonely voices? How do you figure that, may we know please?

McConnell wishes he only had a few isolated wingnuts to contend with. He could withstand the aforementioned Cawthorn or Greene. He doesn’t like Ms. Jewish Space Lasers anyhow, and has called her ideas “loony” before. So that’s a no brainer.
But that’s not the league that McConnell has to bat in. He’s got to contend with Fox News being pro-Putin and with a former Republican POTUS who slavered all over Putin and deferred to him the entire time he was in office — and then who praised him as a “savvy” “genius” for invading Ukraine.
The GOP transitioned into a pro-Putin stance years ago, 2016 to be precise. McConnell saw this as well as anybody else did and maybe he figured it was worth the risk if Trump could get elected. Who knows? What is important now is what does McConnell do to distance his party from being pro-Putin and try to get them back onto a Reaganesque track again?

And we don’t want to depress you further, Mitch, so we won’t even bring up Rand Paul and John McCain mixing it up in March, 2017, when McCain accused Paul of “working for Vladimir Putin” and Paul threw down his mic and stormed off the Senate floor.
McConnell has his work cut out for him and what he said and did Sunday is not going to cut it. He’s got a massive problem on his hands, not just a few stray extremists.
More problems for him=more opportunities for us. Between this and the Russian moneybags drying up, this year is looking anything but good for him.
The Turtle must be losing his touch. He has consistently talked out of both sides of his mouth for years, without being called out on it. Ever since he stole Merrick Garland’s SC seat, the media has decided to at least point out his contradictions. He doesn’t want to remain minority leader, but he hasn’t been able to recruit top tier candidates. If we retain the Senate, he will most likely retire. That is a goal worth working hard for.
Fuck that lying evil weasel. The house handed him Trump on a platter twice & he violated every oath anyone ever took & allowed putin to keep his puppet & undermine Ukraine & our democracy. He should be in jail. He’s covered in dead children’s blood.
McConnell is simply the ‘fixer’ for the Koch Brothers and their libertarian buddies… For decades they have tried to redesign our nation to suit their desires through various right-wing organizations (most funded by the Kochs) like the heritage Foundation, Jefferson Society, Cato Institute, et al.. FOX News and the Sterlings provide the media outlets that feed the public… They have redesigned our nation’s judicial system from the ground up, including providing the three Trump SCOTUS picks.. They have financed the Republican party, as in the 2016 election, when they donated $630 million ‘on condition’ they get their tax cuts (which they did), and now they are establishing grass-roots efforts to take over town halls, school boards and such… And Mitch does their bidding! It’s his job to make sure that they get the results they want… You know why the GOP is distancing itself from Trump? They got what they needed from him and now he’s in the way of the Koch plans…
