It’s so satisfying when people who believe themselves above the law get taken down a peg or two. Even though this is only a wrist slap, maybe it will penetrate Madison Cawthorn’s skull that he doesn’t get to break everyday laws. He believes he’s in Congress to break laws not to make laws and he’s there to suit himself. This is the era of the narcissist troll as lawmaker, thank you Donald Trump. Asheville Citizen Times:
Congressman Madison Cawthorn has been charged with driving with a revoked license, a misdemeanor that carries up to 20 days in jail.
The 26-year-old Henderson County Republican was pulled over March 3 in Cleveland County — about an hour-and-a-half southeast of Asheville — by the highway patrol, according to court records and a highway patrol spokesperson.
Along with the misdemeanor, Cawthorn is facing two pending citations for speeding: 89 mph in a 65-mph zone in Buncombe County on Oct. 18 and 87 mph in a 70-mph zone in Polk County on Jan. 8.
Highway patrol spokesperson Sgt. Marcus Bethea said March 9 he could “confirm that the three citation numbers” are pending matters in Buncombe, Polk and Cleveland counties.”
I hope they throw the book at him, but it’s doubtful. This is the example Cawthorn sets for young people, of flagrant irresponsibility.

He is already getting over with special treatment. Both noted speeding infractions are BOTH reckless driving in NC…..going over 15th above the limit where the limit is 55 or greater.
Also, he should have been arrested and presented to a magistrate for failing to answer the October 18th charge on January 8th as well as the new January 8th charge.
Expect him to get GOP treatment…..the law is for thee, not for me.

They’ve been giving him minimal penalties for infractions that would get, say, a black guy much more (the penalties seem to be fairly light as they stand).
