Holy escalation, Batman. Do you think Cuomo will get the picture now? Chuck Schumer tried to give the high sign to Andrew Cuomo last Sunday, when he said that he endorsed the sexual misconduct investigation by the New York attorney general, referencing the number of women who have come forward to accuse the governor of same. Cuomo chose to ignore that tactful signal and he’s chosen to ignore the open calls for his resignation by Democratic state officials and House members. So now, even heavier artillery has been aimed at Cuomo, in the form of a joint statement by both New York Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillebrand.

Short of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris getting on the phone — and maybe that’s what it will take — the party heavyweights have spoken. But maybe it will come to Biden and Harris. Cuomo seems to be taking obtuse to a whole different level. The fact is, better men and women than him have seen events take on a life of their own and they have frequently gotten a raw deal. Right now Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Hillary Clinton and Al Franken come to mind — and with the exception of Franken, none of the others did anything to contribute to the events that led to their political demise. While Cuomo is certainly entitled to the benefit of the investigation, the better part of valor right now would be to walk away with dignity. If he’s to be exonerated, he will be. And he’ll look all the better for taking the high road and walking away with some class. Or, he can continue on his present kamikazee course.

      • Wrong. 8 women came forward with stories of inappropriate touching against Biden (Lucy Flores, Amy Lappos, DJ Hill, Caitly Carus, Ally Coll, Sofies Karsek, Vail, Kohnert-Yount and Tara Reade). Yet except for Tara Reade, none of them were claiming overt sexual touching. And when Tara Reade’s stories/evidence were scrutinized, they fell apart and she recanted her sexual assault allegations.

        Cuomo should NOT resign.

Tish James’ investigation should proceed and the results presented to the public. This is the American Way. If the allegations are proven as truly sexual harassment then, Cuomo should step down.

Let’s make sure this is not a GOP vendetta against Cuomo for signing the law to eliminate the NY State double-jeopardy loophole which allows NY to pursue criminal penalties and injunctive relief against Trump and his co-conspirators for violations of NY State tax laws – even if federally pardoned by Trump. The GOP has history and pattern of propagating lies, using political plants, paying off accusers to exaggerate stories, hiring hackers to alter voting results, lying, cheating, stealing, bribing and extorting to get the outcome they want.

Let’s not rush to judgment and trial by media feeding frenzy/court of public opinion until both sides have a chance to present all their stories and evidence.

  1. It will become a credibility problem very soon. When you offend women as he seems to have. You need to stand up admit you have some sort of problem and will be seeking treatment for it. When I got in trouble for my last bout of alcohol. I knew I had stepped in it and signed up for treatment before I went to court. It kept me out of jail and I was able to learn that the drugs and alcohol were destroying my life. And I learned how to live without it. That’s what he needs to do. The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

    • It is an axiom that the cover up is frequently worse than the crime. If Cuomo would admit there’s a problem, as you say, he would be seen in a very different light. This anger and denial makes him look like a fool. If he steps up to the plate now, he can save some face. Otherwise, I think he’ll go down in flames.

Good for you for getting a handle on things in your own life. Self mastery is what it’s all about.

  2. You misspelled Gillibrand. Also, given how she was falsely blamed and her presidential campaign destroyed over the misperception that she was behind Franken resigning, it’s no wonder she dragged her feet. It’s a wonder she said anything at all after the assholes scourging her over that smug asshole Franken. She is still the best thing in the Senate. So there. I don’t give a rat’s ass about Cuomo. I’m not invested either way and I am still annoyed at all the people on the left who wanted to replace Biden on the ticket with the Republican-adjacent Cuomo. Sheesh. Where would we be now?
