This is stupider and more evil than book burning and that’s pretty bad. We’re in the middle of a global pandemic, but also in the middle of a cultural war and right now in certain parts of the country insanity prevails over common sense — evidently. Take a look at the mask burning going on, on the steps of the Idaho state capitol building.

This is all due to the fact that there are two separate narratives of reality broadcast 24/7 in this country. If you are listening to the likes of right-wing radio and Fox News, Newsmax, et al., this makes sense. For the rest of the country and the world tuned into reality and fact, this is nothing short of barbaric and appalling.

That’s about the size of it. The worst case scenario, and we can depend upon it in Texas, maybe in Idaho as well, is that there’s going to be a surge in cases, hospitals will be overwhelmed and people will die. I don’t see any other way around that, especially with variants and mutations of the COVID strain being out there.
Completely apposite:

One is real, reporting actual reality and facts, the other is lies, supporting a fantasy. This can’t last too much longer, reality will win out in the end.
The problem is that when reality wins out, the Grim Reaper will take his cut of the action, like always. it’s tragic. it’s so sad that people would rather believe in government plots or God knows what, as opposed to believing in a very real health crisis which has killed over half a million people.
I’d like to start fundraising to build a wall on Washington’s eastern border, tired of the Idaho crazy infecting my state.
