Melania didn’t react like Donald to the events of the first week in November. The Washington Post was reporting earlier today that she’s a pragmatist and when the news broke on November 7 of Trump’s loss, she began packing “her large wardrobe and shoe collection.”
If you missed the Colbert show last night, this terrific video starts at 3:50.
Melania undoubtedly would like to go back to New York, but no chance. She’s going to be down in Florida with Ivanka, Jared, Kimberly and Donald Junior are said to be moving there, Junior’s kids and ex-wife are already there, Tiffany, who knows. It should just be one big Trumpaganza. The only problem is when the lawsuits start.
Laura Benanti, who plays Melania, has given us a lot more joy than Melania herself. Her satire of Melania, I will miss greatly, not the actual mannequin herself.

Don’t cry for me, Mar a Lago…..
HAHA!! That’s perfect!!!
Since we are talking musical theater, I just just imagine my co-star in the tune from Oklahoma! singing a slightly altered version of Out of My Dreams:
Far from your arms
And back to New York
I long to fly
You truly clueless if
You don’t know why!
Hahaha!???????
I don’t know why I didn’t think of this one earlier, but has anyone done a “Donald and Melania” take on the theme from “Green Acres” only having Donald’s dream of the White House taking the place of Oliver Wendell Douglas’s dream of owning his own farm? I mean, the Lisa Douglas bit wouldn’t need to be changed very much as I can easily imagine Melania sympathizing with lines like “New York is where I’d rather stay” (especially after she didn’t move to DC immediately) and “Darling I love you but give me Park Avenue.”
And that last bit is probably going to be even more poignant if she’s going to be condemned to life in Mar-a-Lago.
Maybe I’m a sexist jerk, but seeing this actress playing Melania (and looking so much like the actual Melania) I can’t help but notice the contrast in beauty. While Ms. Benanti is similar looking the make-up job they would do for her appearances on Colbert’s show was incredible and as an accomplished actress (even a Tony Award) the illusion is as close to perfect as one can get. Yet she is beautiful while Melania is by comparison an unappealing animatronic department store mannequin with all the appeal of a wet mop. Beauty (or so women have told me handsomeness in men) comes in large part from what’s inside a person. So does ugliness. Compare a clip of Melania Trump to the spot-on impersonation of Ms. Benanti and for me at least it’s crystal clear just how ugly a person Melania Trump is. Ms. Benanti is both talented and lovely and while she can look and sound and move (except when dancing – again she’s got Broadway acting chops) exactly like Melania to me at least she can’t hide the fact than unlike Melania she’s a good, and probably beautiful PERSON. Melania Trump is however neither talented or lovely.
“Bring me moose & squirrel”…oh & my truckload of ugly shoes
