It may be okay to go to Paris, but in the Middle East, very much not a good idea. Iran is up to something, and Americans are going to get caught in it. Not content with killing our people and destroying our bases in allied countries, they’re now planning to go after civilians. There are certain other countries through which Iran may be able to do the same.

The phrase used was “lethal plotting”. We can all agree that it means assassination of one sort or another. And we also know that there are half a hundred ways it could be done without exposing the people who did it. Iran would very likely be very good at planning and executing such things. It’s certainly not the nicest country in the world. Or the friendliest.

And again, we all know that Iran is not the only country that is likely to be very good at such things. Some of it we’ve seen, and wish we hadn’t. Seeing someone actually die, either live or later on tape, is gut-wrenching. As a side comment, what the hell was Hegseth thinking when he wanted to stream an execution live??!! And by firing squad? That’s nauseating and disgusting. How in the hell can they live with themselves if they do it? It’s a little bit different than actual war, even though dude killed a bunch of people. Apologies. I digressed.

The intelligence information did not mention specifics, such as which countries. They do, however, stress that the safety of government people is paramount. They also did not send the intelligence to everyone. Apparently, some people aren’t supposed to have access to that information. This seems to be lacking in sense, because if our people abroad aren’t aware of this potential problem, they can’t do any sort of preparation. Talk about frustrating!

However, family members and non-essential personnel (how do you determine that?) are supposedly on their way back to the US. Let us hope they make it safely. There’s a lot of concern regarding the people who stayed. Perhaps you need to be brave if you are a diplomat in some countries overseas. Here are a few quotes from the story as seen on Raw Story:

U.S. officials told Axios the warning is one of the factors behind a wave of embassy drawdowns across the region. Earlier this week, the State Department directed family members and nonessential staff to depart the embassy in Riyadh along with consulates in Jeddah and Dhahran. On Friday, it ordered further personnel cuts at embassies in the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Qatar, and Jordan, a U.S. official said. “We decided that due to the threat of Houthi attacks and Iranian terror plots, we need to reduce our footprint and keep only essential staff,” the official told Axios.

That’s some serious courage to stay put in any of those places. Terrorists and assassins don’t always care if you’re a diplomat. You’re from the US, and you are warring with our country, which could mean kiss your a** goodbye. There is always danger if you’re a diplomat, no matter where you are. Just because your countries are allied does not mean someone with a grudge won’t try to take you out. It’s a balancing act.

Let us hope that these concerns and worries will come to naught. An assassination is the last thing we need. Our country is both beaten down and volatile, especially as midterms approach. We’ve lost enough people to Iran. Let us not lose any more to the Houthis (and Iran). Trump is a fool. He needs to keep his mouth shut and not anger any more countries. And if he attacks Iran again after the midterms, it’s all going to blow wide open.

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
