This is not a piece of news we wanted to hear. It’s quite the opposite. This war that’s going nowhere, with no apparent solution or a country’s willingness to come to the table and work it out. That pretty much ended when Trump wouldn’t let go of the threats and the sudden changes in the documents.
We *never* should have gotten into the war, but it’s too late now. All we’ve done is embarrass ourselves. We have ships sitting out in the ocean to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, which is ridiculous. They should be turning back *only* Iranian ships (and possibly Russian ships, assuming my memory is working correctly). We’re half the problem! We should be letting ships through if they clear the Strait!
Any ship with oil, LNG, or any energy-related loads that are desperately needed should be allowed through. And may I remind us that there are crews who have been sitting on their ships just like we have? They’ve been stuck for months. It’s extremely frustrating to see this blockade when we know it’s critically important to get those loads through. And it’s making more countries mad at us, and what if they pull out with their products? America does a whole lot of importing for various reasons, of course.
Our allies are already looking elsewhere for products they used to get from America. That includes the energy supplies that are being blockaded by Trump. When that happens, the leader of the country should be on the phone trying to restore what they haven’t been getting from us. If nothing else, smooth the feathers that have been ruffled by Trump’s stupid, goddamn war. But he won’t do that. He has alienated countries with his demands for help with the blockade. He didn’t ask. He just assumed they would be ready and waiting for him. YeaNo. And there’s something else we needed to know. My appreciation for Raw Story:
White House advisers have privately warned President Donald Trump that the Iran conflict could last through the end of his term. According to an article by The Wall Street Journal, the message cuts sharply against the swift victory Trump has promised the public. Citing unnamed U.S. officials, The Journal reported that others have told the president in the Oval Office and Situation Room that Tehran may keep resisting the American pressure campaign well past Inauguration Day in January 2029.
Trump has offered a far rosier timeline. He told reporters this week that the war would end “immediately” after November’s midterm elections “because they can’t hold out any longer,” The Journal noted.
No, the war isn’t going to end after midterms unless Trump is pulling our ships out on that day. Our blockade isn’t doing anything but putting wear and tear on the ships and crews. Has the USS Lincoln made it to port? It should be interesting to see how long it’s going to take to restore her and fix everything that needs to be fixed. Let’s hope the crew is okay now.
In the meantime, Iran is lobbing more missiles and drones at our bases in the area. And now they’ve started lobbing the same things at countries, even though they have nothing to do with the war and have very carefully been trying to stay neutral and out of it. Bahrain has been clobbered. And Saudi Arabia has been forced to shut down its oil pipeline because of the attack. Do they (or we) have any way to protect against this?
What the hail can be done to get Trump (and Petey Boy) to stop with the crap and bring our people home? A land war isn’t survivable. There would be blood covering the ground, and lots of it from our people. We *cannot* get into a land war. If we thought others were bad, this would eclipse them. It’s past time for them to pack up their egos and bring our people back.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
