This could be incredibly embarrassing for someone, and some of MAGA are quite gleeful about the concept. They’re also being boisterous about it. Two of the highest-profile people in MAGA have spoken out, and the person they are discussing should be worried, assuming the news gets there. This is harsh. With respect to Raw Story:
With Donald Trump’s endorsed candidate facing a potentially embarrassing primary Tuesday, some of the loudest voices in MAGA world are rooting for him to lose — and they’re not whispering about it. On Monday’s edition of Steve Bannon’s War Room, Bannon and Noel Fritsch — a conservative campaign consultant working for GOP Senate candidate Mark Lynch — gleefully torched Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on the eve of South Carolina’s Republican primary, warning the four-term incumbent could fall below the 50% threshold required to avoid a runoff.
We dislike Lindsey Graham. But this is even beyond what we say. People in the same MAGA movement are slicing and dicing him into tiny pieces. We’re not the only ones to have noticed the change in him since McCain died. Graham has been sliding down into a place where no one cares about him anymore, and that’s from both sides. He has no opinions of his own, so he just parrots what someone has told him. There seems to be something wrong with his head because he has gotten so bad.
“This would be the most humiliating thing that would ever happen to Lindsey Graham,” Bannon said. Trump formally endorsed Graham in April and, with the primary hours away, announced a last-minute tele-rally Monday evening in a scramble to push Graham over the line. It didn’t stop his own base from celebrating the incumbent’s struggles.
We could say that was excessive, but consider the source. Steve Bannon ick. Fritsch is not immediately recognizable. This bugs me. What has Graham done that one of the big voices in MAGA is absolutely shredding him for? Graham is MAGA. He’s all about Trump. Having Bannon up against you is a recipe for disaster. People still pay attention to Bannon for what he says and does. It seems that the only one standing up for Graham is Trump.
“Lindsey Graham is an embarrassment,” Fritsch said. “These phony — they’re counterfeit Republicans. It’s not even fair to use the word Republican in the same sentence with a lot of these guys. They are going to sell out the country to the lowest bidder, and everybody knows it now, Steve.” He added: “We can’t find people in South Carolina who really like Lindsey Graham.” If Graham fails to clear 50% on Tuesday, a runoff would be held on June 23. Fritsch called the prospect “a huge, cataclysmic event for the RINOs.” “Dump Lindsey,” he said.
Ouch. And ouch again. We can’t really say that Graham is a RINO because he absolutely supports Trump. We know that for certain. Pretty sure he absolutely supports the Republican Party. He doesn’t have much of a personality, that’s for sure. It’s almost as if he’s only two-dimensional. There’s nothing good and nothing bad that can be said. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.
