He does that a lot. And then he attacks if anyone notices. We notice a lot more than he gives us credit for. But really, he doesn’t see much beyond himself and the mood of the moment. Because it is in the moment. There’s never extensive planning. Look at the illegal Iran War. But this one, this ‘cabinet’ choice, is whacked. He has no knowledge whatsoever of how something needs to be handled. We have yet another debacle coming. With gratitude for Raw Story:
Donald Trump’s decision to appoint Bill Pulte, a businessman currently serving as the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHA), to replace departing DNI director Tulsi Gabbard set off a wave of surprise and consternation on MS NOW Tuesday morning. On Truth Social, Trump made the announcement that Pulte would serve as acting director despite having zero experience in intelligence gathering and analysis, having spent his life working in his family’s home construction business.
Oh, boy. This is the guy who floated the 50-year mortgage idea. He is going to be all about the pretense, and nothing about the actual *job*. We thought Tulsi was bad. He’ll be worse, just like Mullin is worse for DHS. Pulte is going to be another debacle. Trump is doing well at that result for the people he chooses. And we’re watching the weirdness in the White House, in the ‘cabinet’, for a ‘president’, and wonder what the hell half of the country was thinking to put him back into power. That leads into what was done to former President Biden, and rage, so we will move along here.
MS NOW’s Jonathan Lemire read the breaking news, which led his colleague Eugene Daniels to point out that Pulte’s only seeming ally in the White House is the president himself. Pulte has been involved in making wild accusations of mortgage fraud aimed at some of Donald Trump’s enemies that have gone nowhere when the Department of Justice later investigated. According to Daniels, because of that, the appointment may not sit well within the White House.
Could we be so fortunate? Could he crash and burn quickly in this new position? He almost lost his original one. Blanche has had trouble stepping onto Bondi’s place. Mullin has come up with a crazy, literally crazy, idea for airports in Noem’s place, and now this guy after Gabbard. She had a few clues, not much, but a few. Pulte has none. Not just none, but absolutely none. He should have stayed with his original position. Perhaps the intelligence community could work around him. They’re certainly going to try with this yahoo.
“The thing that became clear from this latest episode — if it wasn’t already clear — is that Bill Pulte doesn’t know the first f—— thing about how the mortgage markets operate,” the source said. “After publicly humiliating the president with his moronic 50-year mortgage plan, it’s safe to assume that his days are numbered.” Pulte later appeared to backtrack, saying that 50-year mortgages were merely part of “a WIDE arsenal of solutions” Trump was proposing to address the affordability crisis.
Apparently, Trump got over the humiliation inflicted by Pulte. Of course, this is going to be an even bigger mistake. There should be a betting pool on the time needed until he blows up something publicly. Then Trump will have an excuse to kick him to the curb. Although he may get the excuse and not do anything about it. What should we guess? A month? A year? If he came that close in his original position, this one is much more important, so he may throw something out and not be able to backpedal fast enough. That would be lovely.
