The rebellion has erupted. They are sick of his shenanigans, they are sick of his grifting, they are sick of his nonsense. This is unexpected. They’ve been toeing the Trump line for the past year and 4 months. They’ve been doing what he wants. For now, that has ended. The GOP has been pushed too far. It probably won’t last, but for now, they have started a revolution. With appreciation for Raw Story:

Donald Trump’s push to create a $1.8 billion fund to compensate allies claiming victimization by a “weaponized” Biden-era Department of Justice has triggered an unprecedented GOP revolt, with Republican lawmakers openly challenging the president by running to mainstream media outlets to amplify their criticisms.

My, my, my. Mainstream media. That’s going to reach far and wide. It has the potential to reach people who have been on the fence about Trump, and they may just hop off on the Republican side instead of Trump’s. Republicans seem to (finally) be telling the truth. They are calling out Trump for the nonsense he has done and is trying to do. Suing the IRS was baloney in the first place. And now he wants to get a 1.8 billion settlement out of it. Who is going to be first in line for a payout? J6ers. We are rabid about the suggestion, and now, Republicans are, too.

According to Fox News media analyst Howie Kurtz, the moment represents a fundamental breaking point in Trump’s control over the Republican Party. “Donald Trump did something beyond the pale, and the brave Republicans are standing up to him. If you don’t recall this happening before in Trump’s second term, that’s because it hasn’t,” Kurtz wrote in his Fox News column. Kurtz noted the seismic nature of the moment for Republicans and the media alike. “It’s a revolt. Practically a revolution.”

There are a whole bunch of synonyms for rebellion, including impertinence and insubordination. Those work, too. Trump is going to have no idea what hit him. This is world-shaking for him. His party has had enough. His party is breaking free. It just might help them at midterms. Trump has been toxic all along, but this is going to wobble his world in a bad way.

The so-called “slush fund” has united an unlikely coalition against Trump — Democrats, Republicans, and even the conservative Wall Street Journal editorial board have universally denounced the proposal as ethically problematic and potentially illegal. Trump’s latest diplomatic gambit is compounding the rebellion.

Heh. That “peace agreement” is going to go down in flames. Iran lies. We should send Ghislaine there because she lies, too. We already know the “slush fund.” The question is, can it be stopped? Does anyone in that coalition have an idea for how to stop it? It’s a concern that he might actually get it. And then J6ers will line up, with others following if they can come up with some specious excuse. Paying the J6ers for an insurrection just hacks my shorts. With Republicans rebelling, we might actually be able to do something. It’s a very tiny ray of hope.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
