And it’s about time. Holy cow, this guy is detestable. The far-right Freedom Caucus is a pain in the you-know-what. He’s another one who pontificates about what the country needs and refuses to listen to other views. Well, he got his, and it was done with style and panache. My regards to Raw Story:
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins made Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) squirm during a segment on “The Source” on Thursday after she threw his words about gas prices back in his face.
Collins reminded Jordan of how critical he was of the Biden administration when the price of gasoline topped $3 per gallon during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jordan, a staunch ally of President Donald Trump, has remained largely silent as gas prices have climbed above $4.50 per gallon amid the Trump administration’s war with Iran.
“You were critical when gas was $3.07, when President Biden was in office. If you thought that was bad, what is $4.53?” Collins asked.
Busted! Ooo, it’s so lovely to see someone take him down, not just one, but a couple of pegs. He deserves it. Jordan really hasn’t said much about the war, and that’s odd. He never used to be reserved about saying something. Does he see the freight train of Trump not caring about Americans barreling down the line? Because this is reflecting poorly on the Republican Party, and Jordan is one.
Jordan stammered that everyone wants gas prices to go down before launching into a tirade about Iran’s nuclear weapons.
“You can’t have that regime getting a nuclear weapon,” Jordan said. “The president has been clear about that. Secretary of State Rubio has been clear about that.
So the president is concerned about the long-term safety of this great country and the citizens who live here. That’s what he’s focused on.”
Collins then played a clip of Jordan’s previous comments in which he bashed “elites” in Washington, D.C., who don’t care about gas prices. She then reminded him that Trump had promised to get gas prices under $2 a gallon when he took office.
Ahahaha! Deflect, attack, deflect, make up some nonsense, deflect more. He didn’t do very well in this section of the TV appearance. He followed the tired Trump process of deflect and attack. You will note that he doesn’t actually say anything about gas prices. He tried to make it the fault of Iran. Well, his buddy Trump is the one who declared war on Iran along with Israel, so it’s his fault. There’s no way around that one. And so, we continue.
“That’s life,” Jordan said. “I think the country gets the fundamental fact.”
Collins told him that his argument might not sit well with a family that is struggling to afford the increase in gas prices and the associated costs.
“Saying ‘that’s life‘ might not make them feel better,” she said.
That’s when things got heated.
“Those are your words, not mine!” Jordan said.
“No, you said that just now!” Collins shot back.
BOOM. He did, indeed, say that just now … well, “now”. She got him but good, and as much as he tried to put it on her, she sent it back twice as hard. Republicans are on a very fragile footing right now. Jordan’s attempt to bluster and obfuscate did not work. Period. It’s Trump’s doing, and he will *never* admit it. “So, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?”
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
