This should make us uneasy. Even if we’re in a ceasefire, getting these people together before Trump goes to China (once again, playing “go fish” with a country that has a royal flush) should at least make us uncomfortable. What the heck are they up to? What are the possibilities? With gratitude to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump is meeting Monday with his top national security officials for a closed-door discussion on potential next steps in the U.S. war against Iran, three U.S. officials revealed that same afternoon, with two officials divulging details on what option Trump was “leaning toward.”
The United States and Iran have been in a ceasefire since early April, albeit one the president called “unbelievably weak” on Monday as the two nations continue to exchange attacks on one another.
Last week, the Trump administration sent Tehran a draft proposal for ending the conflict – a proposal that wasn’t responded to until Sunday, where it was immediately rejected by Trump, who admittedly hadn’t read it in full.
Idiot. How can he reject something he hasn’t read? It could be the start of actually working out a deal. But no. He couldn’t be bothered, and that’s no way to run a country, let alone a war. He should have read every single thing they sent. They could have gotten hints of the mindset of Iran. Again, but no. The stupidity, it burns!
And on Monday, Trump is expected to meet with his top officials to discuss the path forward, and whether the United States should resume its military bombardment of Iran, the three officials told Axios on the condition of anonymity.
Officials attending the meeting include “Vice President Vance, White House envoy Steve Witkoff, Secretary of State Rubio, Secretary of Defense Hegseth, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine, CIA director John Ratcliffe and other senior officials,” Axios reported.
Where in the heck is Tulsi Gabbard? She has to have the information they need. But in all the news that comes out about the war, there is no mention of her, and that’s a big, big error. Just because she’s female doesn’t mean she’s stupid. She’s kept her head down since she assumed her position. She hasn’t screwed up that we know of, and if she had, it would have come out in the news somehow and someway. Also, note Hegseth’s title for these officials speaking to Axios. It’s the Secretary of Defense. Interesting, no?
As to what direction Trump was leaning towards, two officials told Axios – also under the condition of anonymity – that the president was favoring resuming hostilities.
“Two U.S. officials said Trump is leaning toward taking some form of military action against Iran to increase pressure on the regime and force concessions on its nuclear program,” Axios’ report reads.
One of the two officials told Axios, regarding what Trump would like to do to Iran: “He will tune them up a bit.”
Trump’s reported preference for resuming hostilities is consistent with claims issued by Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu.
Color me not surprised. We all know Bibi, so no need to rant about that again. There have been arguments between my friends and me about Gaza. Soooo, it seems that we’re going to start throwing things at Iran anew. A peace treaty would have been better, so we could get them to open the Strait of Hormuz. The closing of it has put the *world* in a whole lot of hurt. It needs to be opened. It’s not going to be if we resume hostilities. And now we’re seeing hints of boots on the ground, which is savagely the *wrong* thing to do.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
