Apparently, he did, and it’s chilling. This terrible 2-year-old keeps making these threats, and one day, he’s actually going to follow through. Then what will we do? There’s no good answer for that. We need to worry. He might take that last step. With gratitude for Raw Story:

As he struggles to force Iran’s capitulation, US President Donald Trump issued what seemed to be yet another threat to commit an act of mass destruction against the country through nuclear warfare.

When negotiations have faltered in recent weeks, Trump has on multiple occasions defaulted to genocidal threats—including that the “whole civilization” of Iran would “die,” and that the whole country would be “blown up“—which have only seemed to anger and galvanize his Iranian adversaries rather than make them quake with fear.

While the Trump administration has continued to insist that the ceasefire with Iran was still in effect, the two countries have exchanged significant fire this week.

Argh, the man wants to play with a really bad toy. He has no idea what the world would do to us. He simply has no idea, or he wouldn’t be saying these things. Using a nuke? World War III possibilities? Possibly every nation on the planet (except Russia) would be turning against us? It’s a nightmare scenario for not just the use of one, but also for what happens to us afterwards. He is completely oblivious to consequences. He is also completely oblivious to the fact that his scare tactic Is Not Working. Not in the slightest.

Trump told reporters on Thursday that if the ceasefire were truly over, everyone would know. “If there’s no ceasefire, you’re just going to have to look at one big glow coming out of Iran,” he said. “They’d better sign the agreement fast… If they don’t sign, they’re going to have a lot of pain.”

To many observers, this sounded like a threat from Trump to carry out a nuclear holocaust, though it could also be a redux of Trump’s threats to attack civilian energy infrastructure, which would still be a war crime.

Kelley Beaucar Vlahos, the editor-in-chief of Responsible Statecraft, noted that if it were indeed a nuclear threat, it would be “ironic since the war today supposedly is to prevent Iran from gettinga nuclear weapon.”

Yup. It’s interesting to step back and try to look at it from the outside. Either one of the causes of that “glow” would be war crimes. Trump may pooh-pooh such a thing, but we know better. As if it has to be said again, he only thinks of himself. He’s probably he’s a big man overcoming another country, except he isn’t, and he hasn’t. Anyone can be charged with a war crime, from the top down. Either action would certainly be a war crime.

The National Iranian-American Council (NIAC) said that “threatening to make Iran glow—with nuclear weapons or otherwise—is an almost unthinkable threat to commit a mass war crime against 92 million people. It must never be normalized.”

It again raises urgent questions: Is this president fit to lead and make consequential decisions that impact countless lives?” the group said. “Would the chain of command refuse unlawful orders to make Iran ‘glow,’ killing millions of people?”

Trump’s pledge to wipe out Iranian civilization last month drew widespread condemnation and led dozens of Democratic members of Congress to call for his Cabinet to remove him from office using the powers of the 25th Amendment.

Our leaders need to interrogate these questions seriously, and not write them off as the ramblings of a madman,” NIAC said. “Trump is the president, and may seek to act on these horrible, contemptible threats. This war needs to end, and so [does] Trump’s horrific threatening of war crimes.”

Holy cow. Our ‘president’ continues to menace Iran with the possibility of annihilation. He continues to do this. This man is not right in the head. He could very well think that Iran is going to buckle under to his threats. They would have done so long ago if they were that badly outmatched. But as we have found out, to our chagrin, they are in much better shape than we thought or knew. The chances of anyone getting through to him to say this is bad and this is not working are slim. Let’s hope that someone can.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. I remember a quote from him, during the time that the Obama administration was working on the nuclear agreement. He said that Obama didn’t know how to negotiate and the whole thing would be a disaster. Interesting how that seems to be what he is doing.

    • The Trump administration’s negotiating tactics are a continuation of his real estate business’s “deal” making tactics. Any plaintiff suing him over under/nonpayment of whatever he reneged on met the same type of threat, and there are dozens of one-time NY metro area subcontractors whose businesses have been destroyed as a result of his tactics

Agreed, going up against Iran isn’t the same as squeezing the life out of a small business, and the Irani regime possesses the perseverance and determination to stand up to His Numbnutedness like no adversary he’s encountered to date.

We may well see that conflict result in hostile action on our shores — I hope not, but I think it’s possible.
