Oooo, if he goes through with this, we and the world are in big, big trouble. He’s getting to the point of begging with Iran. See us cringe and try to tell him, “Don’t Do It!!!” It’s a major mistake for us and a wonderful mistake for Iran. *That* will give us one helluva time down the road. I appreciate Raw Story:
Political analysts and observers raised red flags on Sunday after a new proposal to end the war in Iran was shared with the press. Axios reported, citing “a U.S. official and two sources with knowledge,” that Iran has offered to
… reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for kicking talks about the country’s enriched uranium down the road. The Strait has been effectively shut down since late February, following the start of the war, sending global energy prices skyrocketing.
“Discussing” the uranium down the road leaves Iran in a mighty position to screw around with the world. They can open and close the Strait at any time they choose to. But the uranium is a much more urgent discussion than “down the road”. We can hope that there is a way of making that clear. We can also hope we actually get ahold of their uranium. We know that down the road will never come. So, Iran will have enriched uranium *and* control of the Strait. Yea no.
The report also noted that President Donald Trump is expected to hold a meeting in the Situation Room on Monday to discuss the proposal.
“But lifting the blockade and ending the war would remove President Trump’s leverage in any future talks to remove Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium and convince Tehran to suspend enrichment — two primary war objectives for Trump,” it added.
Well *we* know that, and *Axios* know that, but will Trump accept that? Here is where we worry. The whole situation around Iran’s uranium program is something we *need* to do. That can’t wait, or it will never happen. Iran, with the possible ability to create nukes, is frightening. Please let him actually push for that, except get better negotiators, which he won’t. The people are not strong enough to argue with Iran. They need to be tougher. Kushner and Walz are pitiful.
Analysts and observers shared their reactions on social media, with some expressing concerns about market manipulation. “Effectively, this is a totally unrealistic proposal.
Still, the administration waited 11 hours until markets were open to hype so-called ‘good news‘ by calling an American (or Israeli) reporter to say ‘A DEAL IS COMING!’
… and breathlessly include ‘We’ll meet in the situation room to discuss,'” Jim Bianco, a macro research specialist, wrote on X.
“What is amazing is how desperate the market wants this to be the case, and how it bounces every time it happens.”
“Barak should just ring the NASDAQ bell,” Christian Borys, creator of Saint Javelin, posted on X in reference to Barak Ravid, the reporter who broke the story.
As markets open, another Axios story about diplomacy based solely on US-linked sources, Iran consistently says that ending the war requires ‘firm int’l guarantees against future aggression,'”
Erik Sperling, executive director of Just Foreign Policy, posted on X. “Unlikely that Iran would suddenly abandon that demand right before markets open in the U.S.“
Market manipulation and giving Iran what they want is excessively stupid. It leaves the world and us, if we go through with the damn proposal (please no), in a very, very bad position. And the world will blame us, because Israel and the US are the ones who started it all, without a plan. Nice going, kiddies.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

I wish people would demand that ISRAEL be forced to accept unexpected visits to THEIR nuclear facilities. EVERY inspection that’s been done has been announced in plenty of time for Israel to move stuff around OR Israel has flat out refused to accept the inspectors–and NO ONE, especially in DC, has expected the Israelis to comply the way that Saddam did nor the way the Iranians did (before Drumpf tore up the agreement). EVERY single inspection conducted in both “rogue” states came away absolutely clean and the “rogues” were behaving per the terms set out for the inspections.
It will NOT be Tehran that is responsible for a nuclear strike in the Middle East; it will be Jerusalem, pulling from their hidden stockpile.
But, of course, any time anyone crticizes Israel, they’re accused of Anti-Semitism.
And that’s usually from people who, historically, loathed Jews (and by many who still loathe Jews) but love “Israel” because Israel’s existence is required for the “End Times” and Armageddon to occur. (Remember that it was Jerry Falwell’s “Moral Majority” that started the whole “Judeo-Christian values” nonsense even though he’d spent decades–before he started his televangelism career–preaching that Jews “killed our Lord and Savior” and deserved whatever happened to them.)
Okay to both of you. I don’t know enough to answer your comments, so I’m not going to try.
