H0 h0 ho. The PM has had enough of this war already and has said so in no uncertain terms. He is *not* pleased with this crap, and for good reason. We aren’t pleased either. But our power is limited at this point, and the PM’s is not. This was a thrilling find, courtesy of my husband. Appreciation to CNN:

Most European leaders have trodden a fine line between offering limited support for US military action against Iran and warning of a regional conflagration. Not Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. He has been outspoken in his criticism of US strikes, provoking anger and threats from the White House. But rather than back down, Sánchez and his government have doubled down. Spain has significant trade and investment ties with the United States and is a fellow member of NATO. Last year, 4 million Americans visited the country. And just this month, Amazon said it would expand its investment in data centers in Spain to nearly $40 billion.

We wish we had the power to tell Trump to go away and not get caught in backlash. The world knows he’s wretched, and most places don’t want to have anything to do with him after everything he’s pulled thus far. Greenland and Canada come to mind right away. Leaving WHO. Pumping up (no pun intended) energy sources that are contributing to climate change, which he thinks is fake anyway. Sucking up to Pootie. No support for Ukraine. We could come up with a huge list of the nasty things he’s done thus far. I’ll start a list as I did for our Bad Ass judges for stupid shizzle Trump has done or said. Could be fun, irritating, or both.

The US also has major military facilities in southern Spain, at Rota and Morón. It’s the employment of those bases that kicked off the latest spat, with the Spanish government forbidding their use in support of the Iran strikes. In angry comments at a news conference Tuesday, Trump threatened to cut off trade with Spain. And he added: “We could use their base if we want, we could just fly in and use it, nobody’s going to tell us not to use it.” Sánchez did just that. Within 24 hours of Trump’s tirade, he went on national television with a simple message: “No to war.”

I *absolutely* think Spain would notice. Radar and all that, so they can watch their airspace. Trump is a fool if he thinks he can do whatever he pleases in other countries. It’s definitely *not* that easy. And with the Iran war, they are absolutely keeping eyes open. Plus, the Spanish PM knows exactly what Trump is like (99% bluster and tries to talk a good game), so they can easily read his inclinations. Trump is not the ruler of the world (aaagggghhhh what a thought), and he cannot command anyone but “his own” people. Why does he think everyone in the world is as stupid as he is?

He described the US and Israeli strikes as “reckless and illegal” and said his country wouldnot be complicit in something that is bad for the world – and that is also contrary to our values and interests – simply out of fear of reprisals from someone.” Sánchez accused the US of playing “Russian roulette with the destiny of millions.” But he went further, arguing that leaders had a duty to make people’s lives better and taking an implicit dig at Trump. “It is absolutely unacceptable that those leaders who are incapable of fulfilling that duty use the smoke of war to hide their failures and, in the process, line the pockets of a few,” he said.

BOOM. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez just perfectly described the current state of our country, particularly “line the pockets of a few”. That is spot-on correct. 99% of us are suffering, and the gazillionaires get tax cuts. We are paying higher prices, and the gazillionaires have enough money for 20 lifetimes. His description fits our country far more closely than we would want it to be. It’s disgusting. There is a whole lot more in the article (subscription may be required). You may find it interesting, to say the least. And well done, Spain.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Yes. Spain has a real leader, an intelligent statesman with a moral code and an ethical character. The US has Trump and his conga line of ass lickers.

    • I envy Spain. They seem to overall be good people with a good leader. Don’t come here. We’re going to lose a ton of money this summer for the World Cup because of our ass-ministration. Conga line made me giggle. Thank you.

  2. And so worldwide support for the US continues to peel away thanks to our Mad King. I hope (admittedly without much evidence) that Trump, Hegseth, Rubio and their oafish ilk realize that they are ending the American Century, 85 years during which the US actually LED the international community. That leadership was often blind and sometimes evil, but it was there. Now there’s nothing but contempt throughout the world for what the Magats have made of our foreign policy. Future historians will record the sad story, but we’re the ones who have to live through it. And now they want to reinstate the draft…

    • Yea, our support and partnerships are fading fast. So many of my international friends are asking me what the hell is going on. I can’t answer. This is one hell of a way to be ending America.

  3. Rump’s attacks on Iran are not only distractions from the Trump-Epstein files, but also a way to shovel money to his fat cat friends in the military industrial complex. It’s been a while since the paydays of Iraq/Afghanistan for these guys, so they probably welcome this boost in income, at OUR expense. Everything this mal-administration has done has been expensive! Rump throws money around like there’s no end to it, despite how he bankrupted himself numerous times. Now he’s working on taxpayer money, but the way he’s breaking our economy, that won’t last long either.

    • That is another factor I had not considered. I figured the fat cats were in cars and entertainment. I completely missed military suppliers. How embarrassing.
